I highly suggest investing in this summit. Visit paulaswope.com for more details.

If you’ve followed my author journey, you know I’ve had my fair share of trials and tribulations. Although I take full responsibility for every mistake, I could have done without the con artists and those who inflated their capabilities. Many, many, MANY people take full advantage of a new author’s inexperience, and I learned this the hard way.

My friend, Dr. Melissa Carver, has also learned her fair share of lessons through trial and error in the publishing world. Last year, we talked about the money and time we had lost and how there wasn’t an easily accessible resource for new authors. Yes, the information is out there, but you must go down the rabbit hole to find it, so Melissa and I came up with a solution. The outcome is the Aspiring Author’s Summit.

We dedicated months to gathering research, conducting author interviews, and inviting experts from diverse literary fields. The Aspiring Author’s Summit is the culmination of our efforts, offering new authors a comprehensive guide to navigating the publishing world. It’s a unique blend of candid discussions, real-life experiences, and factual insights, all conveniently accessible in one place. No more endless searches for scattered information.

This work isn’t for the faint of heart. Do not jump into writing a book. If you feel a calling to write a book, then you’re meant to write it, but approach it strategically and with wisdom. Invest in yourself and your career as a bestselling author and purchase our Aspiring Author’s Summit today. Most successful authors have received the same training and mentorship in our Aspiring Author’s Summit.

I'll close out my answer to this question with my top three pieces of advice for aspiring writers.

1. Determine your book's goals. These will guide you down the right publishing path.

2. Build a platform now. Don't wait until your book is finished.

3. Don't expect your family and friends to support you. You'll find that random strangers on social media are more supportive sometimes.

I resigned from my career in fundraising in May 2021 to pursue my lifelong dream of being a successful author. I was clueless. If the Aspiring Author’s Summit had been available in 2021, it would have saved me a lot of time, money, and disappointment. As I worked with Melissa to design this summit, I thought about what I needed back in 2021. Here is an overview of what I needed to know:

• Legitimate people with legitimate credentials to help me get my books out into the world
o Dangers of vanity presses and how to spot them
• Networking opportunities
• A large social media platform with real followers
• High engagement on social media
o This is just as important as a large platform.
• Information about the differences in social media platforms
o For example, users behave differently on Instagram in comparison to how users behave on TikTok.
• Excellent editors
o Where to find them
o What they should cost
o How the editing process should work
• Branding and a user-friendly website with a professional CRM
• Pros and cons of traditional publishing and self-publishing
• Literary agents
o Where to find them
o How to approach them
• How to write a book proposal and query letters
• The dos and don’ts of launching a book
• Importance of an outline
• Figuring out your core message and target readers
• Promoting
• Keywords
• Cultivating a strong email list
• What to spend money on and what not to spend money on
• Royalties for authors
• Goals for writing a book

The list is endless, and this work isn’t for the faint of heart. Do not jump into writing a book. If you feel a calling to write a book, then you’re meant to write it but approach it strategically and with wisdom. Invest in yourself and your career as a bestselling author and purchase our Aspiring Author’s Summit today.

Don’t try to navigate this on your own. For a one-time fee of $97, you have professionals from every aspect of publishing to guide you in the right direction. As you watch the summit interviews, I guarantee you’ll have 15,000 lightbulbs go off! This is comparable to a bachelor’s degree in writing, publishing, and selling your book.

Go to my profile, and hit the link to my Linktree in my bio. Click on the link that is labeled “Aspiring Author Summit Content Access – Dr. Melissa Carver.” You’ll be routed to a secure checkout.

My debut book just launched on August 11th, so marketing and promotion work takes up much of my time. Part of those efforts entails planning a book tour, working with a PR firm, networking, guest podcast and TV show appearances, writing articles and blog posts for various magazines, panel discussions, and social media content.

Other projects include, but aren't limited to, the following:

Writing Thought SNOB the Sequel (Book #2)
Growing my Manifestation Challenges Community (learn more at paulaswope.com)
Working with my life-coaching clients (learn more about my certifications from the Chopra Center at paulaswope.com)
Collecting research for a book about synchronicity and number sequences (Book #3)
Designing Thought Snob merch
Hosting the Thought Snob Podcast with Paula Swope
Planning an official book launch party for Thought Snob: The Modern Spiritual Playbook For A Better Life

I must add this to the list...

Feeling gratitude for being able to do what I love to do every single day of my life.
