The Greatest Review

While leaving a review is one of the best ways to support an author, the greatest reviews I have ever received are in the form of silence….silence from one person – my Mémère [a Québécois term for Grandmother].

For a long time, I didn’t recognize this silence as reviews. In fact, the silence had me worried despite her frequent question of “When is your next book coming out?” and her constant refusa

J.R. Ward
“Oh, man there's a marathon of Beaches running tomorrow night. Can we go after ten so I can see it once all the way through?"

Everyone in the room turned to the blond-and-black haired guy, who was propped in the corner, massive arms over his chest.

What," he said. "Look, it's not Mary Tyler Moore, 'kay? So you can 't give me shit."

Vishous, the one with the black glove on his hand, glared across the room. "It's worse than Mary Tyler Moore. And to call you and idiot would be an insult to half-wits around the world."

Are you kidding me? Bette Midler rocks. And I love the ocean. Sue me."

Vishous glanced at the king. "You told me I could beat him. You promised."

As soon as you come home," Wrath said as he got to his feet, "we'll hang him up by his armpits in the gym and you can use him as a punching bag."

Thank you, baby Jesus."

Blond-and-Black shook his head. "I swear, one of these days I'm going to leave."

As one, the Brothers all pointed to the open door and let silence speak for itself.

You guys suck.”
J.R. Ward, Lover Avenged

J.R. Ward
“V was half way down the hall when he heard a yelp. He hightailed it back, barging through the door. “What? What’s …”

“I’m going bald!”

V whipped back the shower curtain and frowned. “What are you talking about? You’ve still got your hair…”

“Not my head! My body, you idiot! I’m going bald!”

Vishous glanced down. Butch’s torso and legs were shedding, a rush of dark brown fuzz pooling around the drain.

V started laughing. “Think of it this way. At least you won’t have to worry about shaving your back as you get old, true? No manscaping for you.”

He was not surprised when a bar of soap came firing at him.”
J.R. Ward, Lover Revealed

Nalini Singh
“Tell me something, Raphael?"

He was already turning, heading to the door. "What is it you'd like to know, Guild Hunter?"

She hid her smile at his slip. "What do I call you? Husband? Mate? Boyfriend?"

Stopping with his hand on the doorknob, he shot her an inscrutable look. "You can call me 'Master'.”
Nalini Singh, Archangel's Kiss

Vladimir Nabokov
“Toska - noun /ˈtō-skə/ - Russian word roughly translated as sadness, melancholia, lugubriousness.

"No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody of something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom.”
Vladimir Nabokov

E.L. Doctorow
“Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia.”

Laura Hi, N.L.!

Wow, did you see how many books and series we have in common? Love Kenyon's Dark Hunters! Feehan's Carpathians rock too. I have heard good things about her Drake Sisters and Ghosthunters, so they are on my TBR list. Have you read those series yet?

BTW, four new novels of mine have come out this year in Kindle and pdf ebook and are on Goodreads:

1,) A Vampire's Kiss (The Manigault Vampires) - $1.99
2.) Sex Magick: Book One (The Rune Witch Series) - $1.99
3.) Bewitched at the Beach: Book Two (The Rune Witch Series) - $1.99
4.) The Harvest Moon: Book Three (The Rune Witch Series) - $1.99

And the first book in my "Memoir Series" came out this summer about my wild sex life:

1.) Being Naughty: The Life & Times of an Erotica Novelist - $1.99

You can read excerpts from these, as well as reviews and interviews with me at my book site at http://www.avampskiss.blogspot.com

I have a monthly newsletter too that is full of all the slutty stuff I've been up to the last month. If you'd like to receive it send me your email addy in a PM or email me at laurastamps@mindspring.com
