My latest novel, The Girl from a Thousand Fathoms, was published in early 2020. Other books includes Third Instar from Eibonvale Press, and my alternative-present-day SF novel Shopocalypse. I’ve edited three anthologies, including Once Upon a Parsec:The Book of Alien Fairy Tales.
I’ve sold over 40 short stories to various magazines and anthologies. My short story, Warm Gun, won the BFS Short Story Competition in 2016 and other work has been short-listed for the James White Award and placed in the Aeon Award.
I’m also a past judge for the Arthur C. Clarke and James White Awards, and the current Chair of the Milford SF Conference.

F&SF, What’s Going On?

There’s something going on at Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine, but what it is isn’t clear.

Back in 2018 I sold my first story to F&SF and woot, after 14 years of submissions, with The Moss Kings I had finally written something that was good enough! What validation, what excitement. What writerly joy!

A great story, well told A fascinating and thoughtful, and thought-provoking story. A perfect example of why it pays to read widely and step out of your comfort reads from time to time. Lovely writing, a strange and terrible tale. Recommended.

A Terrific Collection A wonderful collection of beautifully written short stories by turns magical, sinister, surreal, and sensual. Pitman deserves to be much better known. A delight.
