Jess Settergren was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram and was treated with surgery, chemo, and radiation. She’s been a practicing Pagan since 1996 and discovered there aren’t many cancer support books available from a Pagan perspective. She wrote Defying Shadows hoping her experience would help others.

Jess also writes fantasy and paranormal romance. Jess lives in the woods with her fabulous husband, a horde of busy teenagers, two huge dogs who insist on being lapdogs, and fAngus the bossy tuxedo cat who rules them all.

A Time for Rest

It’s dark in Minnesota most of the time* these days. The sun comes up after 7:30am and sets by 4:30pm as we roll toward the winter solstice this weekend. Today is weirdly warm: everything is melting and rainy out, which seems odd and ominous. Not because of global warming, necessarily, although that’s an overriding issue, but because this soft and melty mush will be glare ice by the end of the day
