Prayer Room

After God answered my prayer for the return of my son in such a miraculous way in "The Father's Love" I was a completely changed man. I was delivered from smoking, drinking, anger, hatred, lust, and much more. Most everyone that I knew could not believe it. Most thought that it was temporary, that I would "get over it." It has been almost ten years and I still did not get over it. God's power is real, awesome, and everlasting.
I remember the first few Sundays my wife Dorinda and I went to church after my transformation. When the offering plate came around I was giving everything that was in my wallet, hundreds of dollars, nearly my whole weeks pay. You see, God had become real to me. Oh, I always believed in God, but He had become REALLY REAL to me. The creator of everything, EVERYTHING, this earth, universe, us, had taken the time to hear my desperate cry for help, my prayer of surrender of my will for His will, and had "instantly" answered my prayer! Wow!
After a few weeks I realized that I needed a place to be alone with God. Two of our sons had already moved out and that left us with an empty bedroom. My wife had plans to turn it into a closet for her. I had plans to turn it into a prayer room. A "secret place" for God and I to meet. I won this one. We would begin by giving the room a fresh coat of paint. We began to gather items that we felt needed to be in a prayer room. Pictures, candles, a rustic table for books, anointing oil, special items that would give the room a personal touch. I found a light-up fluorescent cross for the wall ( a tad bit smaller then the one on the wall at church).
Now it was finally coming together. But, we lacked one more important item, a chair to sit in when reading. I began to visit local furniture stores to scope out that "perfect" chair. I visited several stores. I looked online. I found many that were perfect, but none of them felt just right, so we waited and continued searching. My Pastor had scheduled a work day at the church for the Saturday coming up. My wife Dorinda and I both went. A few hours after beginning work my wife came and found me and said to come with her that she needed to show me something. Helping to empty out an old storage room she had found an old two seat pew that the church was going to throw away. It was the perfect size, it matched the prayer rooms color, it felt right! We took the pew home and put it in the prayer room. We loved it! That night my wife called her parents in Alabama. Her father the Reverend G.J.Chandler, was the former Pastor of our church and had built the building where we now worshiped God. He told us that that was the pew that he always sat in before he came to the podium to speak! We had waited for the perfect seating for our prayer room and we had found it. Looking over the pew that night I found a prayer cloth stuck underneath where someone had placed it years ago. It is still there! Praise the Lord!
Miracle? Maybe. We were so happy that I know I went to bed with a huge smile on my face. The next morning, Sunday morning, I awoke early just at daylight. I could hear this amazing singing, angelic, coming from somewhere. It was soft but penetrating. I slowly crept out of bed and edged my way towards the prayer room. It was coming from inside. I was frozen with anticipation. Should I open the door and look? Did I really believe what I was thinking? An angel singing in our newly finished prayer room? My whole body had goosebumps. Big ones. As I reached for the door handle my eyes must have been as big as saucers! As I slowly opened the door the singing stopped. I sat down in the pew, my body trembling with joy! The Holy Spirit let me know that God was pleased with our new secret place. I wept tears of joy and love for my King! He was pleased!
I did not mention this to Dorinda until the following week. As she stood in our kitchen I told her about what I had heard. She was amazed. Just then my son David came walking into the kitchen with eyes wide open. He had overheard me telling Dorinda about the angel singing. He had heard it also but was afraid to tell us until he heard me talking about it. Confirmation.
God loves us so much that He sent an angel to let us know that He loves it when we love Him back! Glory to God!

HEARING FROM GOD

1Kings19:11-12 NLT “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was a sound of a gentle whisper.

For me personally there is nothing greater then hearing from and/or being in the presence of God. One of the first times that I heard God speak directly to me was one of the most powerful times. I was sound asleep when suddenly I was jolted awake and sitting straight up from God’s voice saying “GO TO THE STREET!” I sat there stunned by the power of it. I did not understand what it meant. It was the middle of the night and the middle of winter, very cold out, in the 20’s. Go to the street? I sat there thinking about it and started talking myself out of going to the street. I lay back down. Immediately I heard it again, “GO TO THE STREET!” I quickly sat back up. I looked over at my wife Dorinda sleeping; she had not heard a thing. I knew it was God speaking to me but I still really did not understand. Why “go to the street?”

I decided to obey God. I got dressed, put on my heavy coat and hat and went out in front of my house to the street. It was very cold, very dark and blustery. Looking around, up and down the street there was nothing moving, no cars, no people, nothing. I waited, and waited. Nothing. I was praying and talking to God. He was silent. I began to start doubting myself. Did you really hear it or were you just dreaming? After about 30 minutes I came back in and went to sleep not waking up again until morning. I would ask God many times over the next weeks and then years what it meant but I received no answer. I was still hearing and experiencing His presence but not receiving an answer for this. Eventually I forgot about it.

A few years later I was excited to be heading to Lexington Kentucky for training to become a Church of God Chaplain. Though I was not sure that God had called me to be a Chaplain both of my Pastor’s had asked me to and I did need the credentials to get into hospitals, jails, etc., to be able to pray with the sick, the lost and hurting. Arriving for the first morning’s seminar I was seated in the front row right in the middle. Our very first speaker introduced himself and opened the meeting with these words; “As Chaplains we are called to GO TO THE STREETS!” I nearly fell out of my chair! The Holy Spirit hit me like a 50 gallon drum of hot oil was poured over my head! Tears began to pour down my cheeks. The man next to me reached over and put his arm on my shoulder and asked me if I was all right. I told him I was more than all right and I would explain to him later. I composed myself and finished off the meeting with very red eyes, a very large smile, and a very grateful heart! God always answers in His time! It had taken a few years but I now understood that God wanted me to take Him to the streets as a Chaplain!

A few years later a friend asked me to visit an acquaintance in jail. The night before making the visit as I was going to bed I prayed and asked God to give me the words to speak to this man in jail. God woke me up three times that night and each time I jumped up out of bed and wrote down what he told me.

The first time God said;”Am I like the gold chain that you put on once in a while so that you look nice?”

The second time God said;”Am I like the trophy that you pick up, dust off, admire, and then return to the shelf?”

The third time,"Or am I like the pair of eyeglasses that you reach for first thing in the morning, put them on, so that you can see clearly all day, everyday?”

Even though I felt that this was meant for the man (whom I had never met) I felt that it was also a message for me. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ first thing every morning and keep Him on all day!
In the morning I went to the jail and talked with the man. He had been unexpectedly sentenced to six months when he thought he would receive probation. He was devastated. We talked about his situation and he admitted that though he was a Christian he had not been as faithful as he should be lately. I felt it was time to share with him what God had spoken to me. I said to him; “Is Jesus like the gold chain that you put on once in a while so that you look nice? Is He like the trophy that you pick up, dust off, admire, and then return to the shelf? Or is He like the pair of eyeglasses that you reach for first thing in the morning, put them on, so that you can see clearly all day, every day?” He immediately began to weep and ask God to forgive Him. I put my arm around Him and told Him that it was OK God does forgive Him. As I was getting ready to leave I asked him if I could pray and he said yes. I prayed and thanked God and asked God to open the jail doors like he had done for the Apostle Paul. This was Saturday morning. Monday morning I got a call from his girlfriend. They had released him, glory to God!

God is speaking to us if we will just be faithful, trust Him, pray and ask Him, and listen for His still small voice!

TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!

A TRIBUTE TO THE BIBLE

The Bible is not an amulet, a charm, a fetish, or a book that will work wonders by its very presence.
It is a book that will work wonders in every life, here and hereafter, if acted upon and obeyed in faith and sincerity. It is God's inspired revelation of the origin and destiny of all things, written in the most simple human language possible so that the most unlearned can understand and obey its teachings. It is self-interpreting and covers every subject of human knowledge and need now and forever.
As a literary composition, the Bible is the most remarkable book ever made. It is a divine library of 66 books, some of considerable size, and others no larger than a tract. These books include various forms of literature - history, biography, poetry, proverbial sayings, hymns, letters, directions for elaborate ritualistic worship, laws, parables, riddles, allegories, prophecy, dramas, and others. They embrace all manner of literary styles in human expression.
It is the book that reveals the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts binding, its histories true, and its decisions immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. The Bible contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the travelers map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's charter. Here heaven is opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good is its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill your memory, rule your heart, and guide your feet in righteousness and true holiness. Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully, meditatively, searchingly, devotionally, and study it constantly, perseveringly, and industriously. Read it through and through until it becomes part of your being and generates faith that will move mountains. The Bible is a mine of wealth, the source of health, and a world of pleasure. It is given to you in this life, will be opened at the judgement, and will stand forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the least to the greatest of labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

Accepting

Accepting

B.T.A. Believe. Trust. Accept. As Christian’s many of us, and I did say US, have little trouble with believing and trusting in God, the power of God, and the promises of God. Where we might get into some trouble is with accepting His promises, His healing, His answers to our prayers, His will.
Accept in the Webster’s Dictionary means to take (what is offered or given), to receive favorably, approve, to believe in. So accepting would be the act of taking what is offered or given, receiving favorably, approving and believing in. “Accepting” is the action part of receiving the Lord’s will. There comes a moment in time when the Believe, Trust, and Accept come together as one, and become a realization in your mind, your heart, your very soul.
Desperation in prayer brings on accepting. The effectual fervent (to boil up, hot; burning; glowing; intensely devoted or earnest) prayer of a righteous man avails much, James 5:16b. Jesus prayed fervently in the Garden of Gethsemane, so fervently that He shed great droplets of blood from His pores. We know that He prayed Believing, Trusting, and Accepting. Jesus prayed that the suffering that He knew He was about to endure would be taken from Him. But, He then said “nevertheless” Thy will be done. He “Accepted” the will of God His Father without any reservations. We might not always know God’s complete will for our life but we can always Believe, Trust, and Accept that God knows best, He has the best plan for us and the Kingdom, and that we can Believe, Trust, and Accept His will, and His promises.
In Proverbs 4:20-22, the word of God says; My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. In other words ACCEPT.
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive (ACCEPT) them, and ye shall have them Mark 11:24.
Norman Grubb, in his book, The Law of Faith, makes interesting commentary about “asking” vs. “taking”: Faith is the spiritual hand, exactly as, in the natural world, nothing is received and put to use merely by wishing or hoping or by asking for it, but by taking and using it, so in the spiritual. The hand must reach out and take the food or the book. Faith must reach out and take the promises, and the spoken evidence of such taking is the spoken word of faith. Probably the effect in the realm of the Spirit is the same as in the realm of matter. God offers all in His promises. The word of faith is the act of taking and applying His power according to need. What we actually take we actually have, and when the decisive word of faith has been spoken, God in His grace begins to work; and as the stand of faith is persisted in, the answer appears. That is why the declared word of faith is so vital and should be so stressed. It is the act of taking in the invisible, and we suggest that the serious lack in so much of our prayer life, both public and private, is that it hardly gets beyond the stage of asking. Hardly ever do we hear a person in a public prayer meeting, having asked, take and thank; yet probably it is much more important to have “taking” meetings than to have “asking” meetings. Our constant asking must have the same effect on God as would a child on his parents, who keeps asking for food, when they have set his meal before him and told him to take and eat it.
We have a choice whether or not to accept Christ at His word. We must begin to speak to our mountains and accept God’s promises.
Don’t be afraid. Just trust Me. Mark 5:36
If you trust Me, you are really trusting God who sent Me. John 12:44
Don’t be troubled. You trust God, now trust in Me. John 14:1
No matter what I pray for Lord, nevertheless, I Believe, I Trust, and I Accept Your will for my life!

Pursuing My Son as The Father Pursued Me by Chaplain David Moore

At the end of my book “The Father’s Love” I talk about a few of the miracles that happened like the miraculous healing that God performed in my son David’s life. As a Chaplain I have visited and prayed with hundreds of people over the last ten years and have seen God do many miracles. There are people these days who do not believe that God is still in the miracle working business. We are a people that like to see things with our own eyes before we believe in such glorious things.

Well in my case “my eyes have seen the glory, my ears have heard, I have felt and even smelled the presence of God!” Pretty incredible, right? I know. I believe that we can have as little or as much of God as we want. There have been times in my life that I was seeking and desiring God more than anything. Those are the times that I found Him, and experienced more of Him.

When I have slacked off in my time with God I have experienced less of Him. It is like any relationship we have, the more you put into it the better it will be.

When my son disappeared I went on a frantic and desperate search to find him. I would have done anything I had to do. Nothing could stop me. God feels the same way about you. He will never stop loving you. He will never stop desiring you to come to Him and be close to Him. Nothing you have ever done or will ever do will change that. He loves you unconditionally.

I always believed in God but that day when I prayed a desperate prayer for Him to save my son and He answered me, He became real to me. He has been answering prayers ever since. That’s what a good Father does. If you have surrendered your heart to God and you want more, then cry out to Him like never before. Get desperate before Him. If you have never given your heart to Jesus do it now, you will never be the same! God is a miracle working God! There is always hope with God!

Christian Enquirer Interview

The Father’s Love: An Exclusive Interview with Dave Moore
February 8, 2013 - FEATURED, GOD AT WORK, INSPIRATION, NEWSWIRE, OTHER, STORIES - no comments

Author Interview

Today we have the pleasure of hearing from Dave Moore, author of The Father’s Love. Please join me as we discover how God has been at work in Dave’s life, and what led him to write this incredible auto-biographical account.

Hi Dave, welcome, and thank you for taking the time to share with us. Please tell us a little bit about yourself, where you are from, your family and your Christian background.

I am a Chaplain in the Church of God living in Ypsilanti Michigan. I pray with the sick and lost in hospitals, nursing homes, prisons and jails, wherever I am called. I am married to the love of my life Dorinda, and we have three sons, Shane, Adam, and David. I was not raised in church though I always believed in God. My wife was raised in church as her father has been a Pastor and Evangelist for over 60 years. Until this incident happened in my life I did not attend church. Now we rarely miss a Sunday.

Dave Moore

Your book, The Father’s Love, is recognized as “an amazing true story of hope”, and yet it is also detailed as “a father’s worst nightmare come true”. Why did you feel you had to tell your story?

When telling others about my search for my missing son and the miraculous answer to prayer they would be moved to tears and nearly always say that a book should be written and a movie made. I wanted to tell the world how God had radically changed my family’s lives through a miracle answer to prayer.

What is the major theme or message of The Father’s Love?

There is always hope with God. When we surrender our will for God’s will we can truly ask Him for anything we need. God’s desire is for us to be in relationship with Him through prayer and reading His word.

Just like any loving relationship we want to do what is best for that loved one. When we draw closer to God our will and His will begin to line up and our hopes and dreams, and our prayers, become realities!

What was the hardest part of writing The Father’s Love?

Reliving the painful moments of the search. It was the worst five days of my life. As I would write and rewrite the story I shed so many tears. I have lost both I my parents and it is a terrible thing to go through. But nothing compares to the fear and anguish of searching for a missing child.

Together Again

What is your favorite part of the book?

When God answered my desperate prayer to save my son. There is no way to fully explain how it feels to have the Creator of the universe immediately and miraculously not only answer your prayer but become really real to you in a split second. I was completely changed in an instant from walking in the dark to walking in the light. Delivered from smoking, drinking, anger, lust, hatred, and so much more. Real solutions bring real change. Jesus Christ is the solution to everything!

I’ve heard of others who have experienced such immediate deliverance from those kinds of things. That’s so amazing. Praise God, and what a way to get your attention!

How did writing The Father’s Love help you and your family?

Not only was I delivered from so many bad things in my life but it gave me and my wife and son a completely new outlook on life. No longer do we live for ourselves only but for something so much greater! We were not attending church at all. I am now a Chaplain; my wife sings in the choir and reaches out to the hurting with cards and meals. My son is now a college graduate and a Pastor.

How do you hope reading The Father’s Love will help or affect others?

First, I hope that people will realize that there is real hope and real help with God. I have had to deal with many hard things since I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. The death of my mother to lung cancer, three months later finding out that I had cancer, the loss of my job. In the midst of these difficult trials, though they were hard, the Lord gave me peace that goes so very far beyond my comprehension. Jesus said that when He went away that He would send the Holy Ghost Comforter to teach us and to comfort us. I have also experienced many amazing answers to prayer some of which I write about in the book. There is always hope with God!

God is so good when we rest in Him, no matter what challenges He allows to come our way. How has The Father’s Love been received by the public so far, for example, posted reviews?

I have not to this date had one bad review. Everyone that has read the book has had nothing but good things to say about it. It is a quick read and it gets right to the story without any fluff. Most people say that they could not put it down and finish it in one sitting. There are many comments on my Facebook fan page.

What are your current activities and future plans?

We have recently started attending a new church and I am slowly getting involved there. I am working the altar calls with my new Pastor and visiting the sick and lost when I am called upon. I plan to continue to serve God, tell my testimony of “The Father’s Love” to the world, and be a blessing to others when possible.

Is there anything that has happened recently or is about to happen that you are especially excited about and would like to share with us?

We have been on television with the book three times already and I have been in contact with the 700 Club and Daystar Network for possible interviews. It has always been my goal to take “The Father’s Love” to the world and these amazing networks that reach so many for the Kingdom of God would be a tremendous way to do that. Also, I have been in contact with several different people about a possible movie deal.

For what are you most grateful?

I am so grateful that God not only answered my prayer and brought my son home safely but that he opened my and my wife Dorinda’s and son David’s eyes and saved us too. Now all of our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and we will be together forever in Heaven! Hallelujah!

Finally, where can our audience find out more about you and your book ‘The Father’s Love’?

The Prayer Room

I would like to talk about some of the miracles that I have witnessed. I probably will not talk about the ones that I wrote about in "The Father's Love." But I might at a later date.
My Pastor Ron Stewart had scheduled a work day at the church for the Saturday coming up.

Author Interview: Dave Moore

Q1.)When did you first consider yourself a writer?

A1.) I understand that technically writing a book makes you a writer but I really don’t picture myself that way. I have an amazing story that I knew needed to be told and with much help from others and especially God we got it done.

.
Q2.)What inspired you to write your first book?

A2.) Whenever I would tell the story of my sons disappearance and the miraculous answer to prayer, people would almost always begin to cry and tell me that a book should be written and a movie should be made. When I came to a place of no hope in my search for my son I prayed a desperate prayer to God and He answered me. I want everyone to know that there is always hope with God!

.
Q3.)What were your challenges in getting your first book published?

A3.) The publishing itself was not a challenge. The first publisher I submitted it to accepted it. The real challenge was in my ability to finish the book. After getting about a third of the way into the writing I hit the wall and put it in my closet for a year. Then one day I felt a prompting in my spirit and picked it back up. 4 months later I finished writing.

.
Q4.)What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your book(s)?

A4.) That when we dedicate our work to God He will help us. It was so amazing the way God brought back memories of even some of the minor details of my search for my son. I would close my eyes and I could see peoples faces. I could remember exact details and time lines. I really believe when we do our best for God and ask Him to do the rest He will always make a way.

.
Q5.)How many books have you written? Which is your favorite and why?

A)5. I have only written the one book. I am considering writing a book on the miracles that I have witnessed since the ones that I talked about in The Father’s Love.

Q6.)Where do you get your ideas or how do you find inspiration?

A6.) The ideas that I have written about and the ones being considered all come from real life experiences. My inspiration comes from God and from my desire to bring glory to Him in some small way for all of the amazing big things that He has done for me. Every joy in my life is because of Him. Every good thing that I have He is responsible for. He gives us life, He sustains us and the world we live in. I love and am loved because of Him. I can never repay Him.

.
Q7.)How do you incorporate God into your writing?

A7.) By telling what He has done. Sometimes it is the large things such as miraculous healing’s and sometimes it might just be the still small voice that nudges us in the right direction.

.
Q8.)What books/authors have influenced your writing?

A8.) I loved the writing of C.Nuzum who wrote “The Life of Faith way back in 1928. It is a powerful testimony of God’s power to heal. Lisa Buffaloe’s faith and love of God has blessed me through her writing, blogs and radio show.

.
Q9.)Do you have an upcoming book?

A9.) I am considering writing a book on miracles. I have been involved with many miraculous healing’s, angel visitations, and other answers to prayer. I like the title “My Eyes Have Seen The Glory!”

.
Q10.)Do you have any advice for other writers?

A10.) Never give up. Write what is in your heart. Do the very best you can and ask God to help you do the rest. Dedicate your work to God and do it for Him!

.
Q11.)Any final thoughts about sharing your writing with my blog readers?

A11.) If there is something you are hoping for or you know someone who needs hope my book “The Father’s Love” will help you to see that there is always hope with God. If you are trying to reach lost loved ones there is no better way than to help them to see that God is real. The bible says in 1 Peter 3:15; “In your hearts set Christ apart as holy and acknowledge Him as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you.” My book tells the story of the hope that is in me. My testimony.
You see, I was searching for my son and I found my Father. Not only was my son lost but so was I. I thank God that He never stops searching for us. Glory to God!
