Why does failure feel so personal? Why can it be so loud?
Many of us have a complicated relationship with failure. When we experience failure, we don’t simply think, I failed. Instead, we tell ourselves, I am a failure. Even when we know that everybody makes mistakes, making them ourselves feels vulnerable, isolating, and hopelessly defeating. One closed door convinces us that no others will open.
