A Tale of Love, Loyalty, and Loss

Why Paranormal Romance Has My Heart (and Maybe Yours Too)

Let’s talk about Paranormal Romance. You know, that genre where magic, danger, and epic love stories collide. If you’re anything like me, you probably have a soft spot for a tale where a mysterious stranger turns out to be a werewolf—or where love crosses supernatural boundaries that should be impossible but somehow aren’t.
So, why do we keep coming back for more? Let’s dive in together!
Magic Meets the Everyday
For me, one of the coolest things about PNR is how it blends the extraordinary with the everyday. One minute, the heroine is navigating her normal-ish life; the next, she’s discovering she’s got powers, or that her hot coworker is a 300-year-old vampire. (Classic, right?)
It makes me wonder: what would I do if I woke up in a world where the rules suddenly changed? Would I run toward the mystery—or away from it? What about you?
The Characters Stick With You
I love how PNR characters are so much more than what they seem on the surface. They’re grappling with life, just like the rest of us, but with added drama—like a destiny they can’t escape or a power they’re terrified to use.
Take my characters, Aria and Kael, for example (from Rebel's Fated Return). Aria’s fierce and determined, while Kael is brooding but deeply loyal. Both have their flaws, their fears, and their secrets. And when they clash… let’s just say sparks fly.
Do you ever find yourself totally rooting for a character, even when they’re making terrible decisions? Or is that just me?
That Tension Though…
Let’s not forget the romance! The best part of PNR (in my opinion) is the slow burn. The longing, the stolen glances, the "we can’t be together but we have to be" moments that make your heart race.
Is there anything better than a love story that feels impossible but somehow works? And don’t get me started on forbidden love—it’s a trope I’ll never get tired of. What’s your favorite PNR trope? Enemies to lovers? Soulmates?
