Taylor Swift Rocks a Rope Dress!

Taylor Swift definitely grasps the significance of rope! As a promo shot for her “The Life of A Showgirl” album, she recently posed backstage at a Broadway theater in a dress made of nothing but three-strand rope!

In the history of the American theater, those venues that used hemp rope for their backstage lifting lines were known as “hemp houses.” It’s only recently that the last hemp houses were

converted over to synthetic rope and wire rope for doing the heavy lifting. Looks like with this rope dress Taylor is acknowledging the hemp rope legacy and how it ties in with what showgirls regularly saw backstage during their careers. Now all her fans will be buying rope, learning knots and reading Rope the book (or at least buying it for their dads!)! Long live three-strand! #ropebook
