How Book Marketing Scammers Use Medium to Target Authors and a Fake Author to Watch out For!

Honestly super tired these days and recently I had some issues which is why I haven’t been feeling up to writing or doing much but after the exchange I had this morning I need to write about it. I think I’m actually using my Journalism degree by being a watch dog for authors. Scammers keep targeting me so I have nothing but content! These assholes are getting tiring at times though especially since I’m getting emails daily. And I finally found out how these motherfuckers use Medium to try to dupe authors.

Here is an email exchange where I finally get how they use Medium to scam authors I get these a lot this is the fifth one and I finally get how they use it!

Me: I will tell you like I tell the rest I have a Medium account and I get paid for it none of you can charge me since I don’t pay for it!

Scammer: Hi!

I completely understand where you are coming from and I truly respect that you already have a Medium account and are earning from it. That tells me you already understand the power of the platform better than most authors and that is something to be genuinely proud of.

But here is the honest distinction between what you do on your own Medium account and what I offer and I think once you see it clearly it will make complete sense.

When you publish on your own Medium account your articles reach your existing followers. The people who already know you and already follow you. That is powerful but it is a closed circle.

What I offer is completely different. I often vent my frustration at scammers because I’m really tired of receiving these annoying emails. Maybe the more I express my anger, the more they’ll leave me alone. However, it does get exhausting to deal with the same issues repeatedly. When I reach my breaking point, I start blocking them instead of engaging in conversation. I feel compelled to warn other authors about this since it’s something we all face. I will never give anyone my money. I’ve learned that paying for book marketing and promotion is a complete waste of money! Seems like these days I just vent but this is my space and these book marketers should look at my website instead of asking me the same fucking questions it gets old!

My Setup for my Streams and how I became a Twitch streamer!

I stream on Twitch as a hobby and it is a fun thing for me to do. I’ve been an avid gamer since I was a kid my first gaming PC was a laptop and it was this one:

I started to get into streaming after Covid hit and it was after my mom passed. I needed something to do and when I was bored one day that is how I found a website called Twitch. Then that is when I began building my Gaming/streaming set up link here to laptop since it was a good starter one!

That is when I started building my set up I got the monitor that year which is the one on the left link here: https://amzn.to/4rickeN I needed a bigger desk at the time since I wanted another monitor so that is how I got the desk and it was the best thing ever since it held 2 monitors, mouse, keyboard, mouse pad, webcam and mic I think the ones I got arew way better now then when I was getting started. I became an affiliate December of 2020 and it was the best feeling ever over the years it evolved and changed. I decided to become a vtuber January 2025 and got a custom model since it was better for me and my self esteem. I can stream and have fun without worrying about anyone commenting on my appearance.

I love it all yes it is trial and error but it was so fun to learn. I also get my emotes and overlays from Etsy and used to get art alot till I got laid off my job. I used OBS to stream which I can show how in a video one day. I also use the Twitch intergrated throwing system and Vtube studio since it is what I use for my 2D model. I’ve also had a variety of models and even at one point made my own 3D ones in Vroid studio. I can always do a tutorial about how it works. I think the hardest thing about trying to make it as a live streamer is consistency for me. I’ve been in and out of it so much it has been hard to want to set a schedule, and I was thinking about live streaming on Tiktok gaming and writing ones. I’m still trying to get my mental health back since being laid off was a blow. I plan on doing more content for both my Youtube channels and more streams I have to do something all this job searching is discouraging. It sucks I also got a course to take on horror novels and even got one to try to master Tiktok shop after seeing what will happens if there is consistency I want to make fuck you money and pay off my credit card debts and not rely on unemployment. I did file taxes so one stressor down. I gathered all the screenshots I needed so I can make a video exposing the meanest book marketers and how to trace their photos. I’m seeing more and more people fall for their bullshit scams.

Dude I format with Vellum! Also some idiot artist dmed me and she got an earful since I wasn’t looking for art or a cover artist as someone who lost my job in November and job searching I don’t got the money to just hand out to everyone who asks. But this is about Twitch not books so I’ll save that as a rant in another post. Twitch does take time to get the hang of though and since I got all this time off I can blog about what it is like being a streamer! My custom built PC was 2k in total but best money I’ve ever spent. I even got a 16tb drive since content creation and modding games and editing with Capcut and using Canva pro for Thumbnails can take a lot of space. I do plan on doing a separate post about my Youtube stuff and even about the various video games I play the webcam is the best for tracking my model and I love the mic I currently have. I may try to find a better pair of headphones though. This is my current set up as of 2026 and be sure to keep up with my socials for my streams bye for now!

Why I self-publish and here is a Company to Avoid!

It is honestly sad how many people there are out there trying to prey on authors at this point. Between the stupid book promoters, marketers, author service people it can get annoying being bombarded with everyone and their mother offering services. Today started like any other day argue with book promoters and tweet about books. Shower and then this email came:

Publishing is a business, and even platforms like Amazon have costs or take a share of royalties. Nothing is truly “free” in terms of the work, formatting, distribution, and other services required to get a book properly published.

I completely understand being mindful of expenses — it’s important to be careful with your budget — but it’s worth knowing the reality of self-publishing so you can make informed decisions.

This is my reply after I blocked his email: It’s free to upload on Amazon after publishing 26 books I know what I’m talking about! I know the reality of self-publishing you can’t change my mind on this respect my decision as I am let go from my day job and tired of emails. I format with Vellum I know what I’m doing but thanks for mansplaining it to me! Your company isn’t even active yet and you feel the need to tell me you’ll clarify if I need it nope you sound like a dick and I’ll be sure to tell other authors to steer clear since you want to be a condescending know it all jerk stop thinking you even know how it works when I’ve been doing this 14 years jackass blocking as I’m done with rude behavior!

Like really the guy was super rude about it and how dare he explain to me self-publishing like I’m dumb. The company isn’t even active yet so already he is shooting himself in the foot. So let me explain you can self-publish free with Kindle Direct Publishing. I format with Vellum so formatting is free. I don’t want to go the traditional route it’s a pain in the ass to me query, find an agent, and then all the fucking waiting in the chance the book gets picked up by the publisher. And if you manage to land a deal then people like agents, publishers etc take your share so you are left with even less royalties. With Self-publishing you can take control and get a higher percentage of royalties, you are in control of the cover, the formatting and when to publish. Vellum makes formatting a breeze and it is easy to upload. I’ve got 26 books to my name so I’m more focused on promoting old books and building a backlist. I’m not needed help from book marketers either they don’t look at the bigger picture. Even after you publish it is up to you to promote your books. Just having one book out doesn’t cut it and from my research I need to think of building a body of work to even break even. These book marketers think just having them market one book will make the author a best seller or having their stupid book trailers, mock ups and banner will help with sales. It doesn’t building a backlist does and with someone who has been publishing books longer then any of these dumb book marketers I believe I know what to do and how to promote my books. This is a hobby since I’m still looking for a day job. It sucks but I think I can afford at the very least covers. Not from any book marketers though since their prices are high for a lot of them. The cheapest I’ve found for book covers is 35 at getcovers so that will be more affordable then anything else and I can’t wait to use them! I’ve also compiled screenshots of DMS and emails from the rudest book marketers so I can do a video and post to Tiktok and Youtube. Trying to use this time wisely and I will be doing more Tiktok shop videos especially after I get some cool items once I file taxes. There are so many products I can do videos on and so many convos to film too. There is never a shortage of book marketers, fake authors, weirdoes, fake celebs and romance scammers tons of content. And still got Unbox the Room and Whispers of Thee House to do. Many more gaming videos to film especially since I’ve got so many I can make gaming a full-time job. I want to do Tiktok lives and start streaming more on Twitch as well. In between job searches of course. These stupid scammers never get stuff right at all and I can’t wait to show you all more videos and content!

I'm back to Writing and Publishing again!

Today I worked on Mia’s Gift and will continue to work on it more tomorrow. I plan on using this time to write and publish more books and after looking at them again they weren’t bad just needed more details so after I finish Mia then I’m handing it to my beta reader and getting help with editing after for grammar. I can afford cover art thanks to getcovers; it has the cheapest at 35, so there is no reason I can’t pick it back up again. Marina will be leading to another series called Dragon Witch Academy but changing the title to Marina’s Dragon Mate and leaving the AngelWitch stuff out. Then I plan on working on Mina’s Vampire Mate, Afterlife and My Vampire streamer I’ll be adding details so it comes more alive. Then Scarlet Books 1 and 2 and hoping sales take off or I get enough money to afford editing for it by then. I’m using this time while I’m not working a day job to giving writing a shot since I’ve got alot of free time balancing it between everything. Writing is my passion and all my stories are interconnected. It was so fun getting back into the worlds today. I’ve got a spark back despite stupid book marketers trying to ruin it. Writing is my passion no matter how long it takes to get back. I have a lot of stories to tell and alot of books to write and publish. After it is edited then I put in an order for a cover after I get the cover then format it with Vellum and upload it to KDP which is free. I’ll be doing banners with Canva Pro, book trailers and mock ups the only annoying hurdle are these stupid book marketing pests. They are everywhere though and you know they will be rude about low book reviews as if I got control. Also they just love saying shit about low sales as if you can see my dashboard you can’t. I can sell books without their help anyway they are dumb for thinking I need their help with reviews and sales but I do got all these screenshots to show so it will be funny to show how dumb some of them are like of course they are on Amazon!

I don’t understand sure you don’t and you were probably trying to pitch your shitty banner, book trailer or mock-up. I know their games by now. They are as stupid as they are ugly. One moron made a banner for Ghost Possession and made it like sci-fi excuse you this is paranormal romance. And 3 at a time today 2 trying graphics with old books that looked sad. Like come on none of you book marketers understand even with a book trailer it takes fucking time! Even with promoting everyday it takes time and the most important thing is working on the next book so I’ll promote my old books some and work on new ones this time no hiring anyone for marketing and just using social media. The only thing worth spending money on is editing and cover art. Not tossing a sad book marketer money for promoting my books to their 10 friends and they steal photos and have 2 first names. Hell one said I look too cute to be harsh and you kept bugging me when I want to be left alone. They also try to friend you thinking they can build something nope they only thing they want is an authors money. Greedy book marketers like being an author doesn’t make me rich they have such a big ego they think if someone uses their banners, book trailers, or mock ups or marketing help that it will make the author a best seller it won’t and I will never need help from any of those idiots. They don’t understand I don’t need their help or will pay them to promote my books to their dumb 4 followers. Also if you notice they are located in other countries like Africa, India, and even Asia their follower count is so laughable no need to pay any of their dumbasses. I’ll be doing a video on how to trace their profile since it’s easy to see they are using stolen photos. In the mean time poured a Red bull and vodka since it feels good to get work done on my books might as well take time to act like writing is my job while I can and don’t have a day job holding me back! Feels good to be back in my worlds and I can’t wait to show you Luxor and hope you get lost in the pages of my books!

When two new transfers come to Crystal Crest, Scarlet and her best friend/guardian Annika don’t know what to think of them. Scarlet and Annika are in for a surprise.

So I liked this book. It was a sweet, easy read. Annika and Scarlet had a pretty straightforward friendship. Even when Zion and Nathan made their appearance, the two girls looked out for one another. Their relationship was easy and believable. Scarlet was a strong MC, and I found myself rooting from her from the very first chapter.

The world of Crystal Crest is an interesting one with vampires, witches, and sometimes hybrids of the two. The scenery of the Realm was described in a way that made it easy to picture everything without standing in the way of the story.

If you’re looking for a cute YA vampire/witch story to pass the time, this is a good one.

A terrific read, great world building wonderful characters. It was a definite page. Turner must read, and I would definitely recommend this book.

“I don’t understand any of this.” Angeline’s Gift by Jessica Samuels has got to be one of the strangest books I have ever read, and that’s a good thing. The book opens with a paranormal adventure story, with angels, witches, dragons, and the humans who interact with them. This first Act contains memorable dialogue, often evoking laughter and reflection simultaneously. At roughly one-third in, I became completely confused, until I came to my own conclusion that the book had transformed into the pseudo-memoir of a young woman’s journey as a department store employee, plagued by a tyrannical supervisor and all the other horrors of retail life. Those recollections also included the misery of dealing with a series of bad ex-boyfriends. The final Act switches back to an apocalyptic confrontation between the forces of good and evil. This book is truly a wild ride. The best characteristic of the author’s unique style is her ability to hilariously intermingle the supernatural with the mundane, ordinary life we all experience. That, in itself, is the memory I’ll take away from this entertaining gift, which I recommend you open. “Home isn’t a place, but instead it’s a feeling where you belong.”

This is not the type of book that I normally read and I was pleasantly surprised. Jessica is very creative and leads you through the life of Angeline. The book is entertaining and picked my interest in reading more books by Jessica.

My mom is a high witch and dad is the head of a vampire coven which means I am half and half. So, there is the whole outsider thing.

I wanted to find someone since I was tired of being by myself.

I have the latest desktop for gaming, food challenge videos, vlogs, and a smartphone to post on social media sites to build a platform. I finally have the freedom now that I didn’t have before.

I wanted to find someone and up my alley maybe a cute vampire in the military I wouldn’t mind being the wife of a soldier. And in my apartment that I worked hard to get for. I felt safe for once it even had a room that I dedicated to streaming. A kitchen, living room with a big tv and I can even plug up my laptop to it. And I have a nice bedroom and bathroom attached.

I was just missing friends and someone to share it with. I needed a way to relax after I am done streaming, and as fun as it is, it would be nice to have someone to share the life with. Someone sexy, mysterious, and someone I can go to my favorite coffee shop with since I am right near one.

I used to go there a lot, and it was something fun. Also got to know one of the coffee shop workers there who is a sexy vampire by the name of Aiden. There is something there. He is friendly too, but I don’t think he would fall for me at all. He was nice to me after I got a coffee with blood at the coffee shop when I wanted to celebrate as a reward for making partner which means I can make more streaming. He is cute. Spiky black hair, blue eyes, and tattoos with a smile for me every time he got me a cup. There was a spark there but I didn’t know what it was yet it made me feel safe just being around him while gaming on my hand held tending my crops as a farmer. I play cozy games like Winter Valley and it lets you plant crops, fish, mine for items. Raise animals and build a cute farm.

It was nice, and today I would rather be at home watering my imaginary crops and relaxing. It has been one of those lonely days, and gaming is my way of relaxing. Sometimes and it can help after a long day of streaming and talking.

I was happy to get a break. A break from it all is what I needed.

I also needed someone to spend said break with since it sometimes gets lonely just me being there.

Still I don’t have any idea on how to pick-up guys at coffee shops, and I have anxiety, so it is not ideal at all. Not for someone like me at all. I was terrified in person.

I have heard a lot of people use dating apps to find someone, and it is a better option than trying in person. I get my smartphone, and it is awesome since it has a big screen and the fastest internet there. It has a ton of apps I need, and I can even stream from my phone. It is the best, and now I was tapping the app store, and choosing a dating app to find the guy of my dreams.

Revealing the latest Scam Emails and my responses!

I don’t know what is up with the book marketers but alot of them are coming in droves about stupid book trailers. They think by me hiring them for their dumb cinematic traliers will get sales. It doesn’t work like that also dealt with one particularly condescending one too below:

I was browsing through the genre today and noticed a common branding issue that 99% of indie authors face: the “Value Gap.”

The problem is that a book’s “perceived value” is often determined by the page architecture rather than the story itself. When a listing is missing the “From the Publisher” or “Editorial” sections, it subconsciously tells the reader the book is a “budget” or “unvetted” title. This makes it very difficult to maintain a premium price point or compete with top-tier bestsellers.

An Editorial Review solves this by providing the “Premium Polish” seen on Big Five publications. It fills the “Dead Real Estate” on your page with professional praise, signaling to the reader that this book is a high-quality product worth the full list price.

The benefit is a stronger brand presence. When your page looks like a bestseller, readers treat you like a bestseller. This shift in perception is often the missing piece for authors looking to move from “hobbyist” to “professional” sales levels.

I’ve put together a visual benchmark of what this “Premium Layout” looks like in your specific category. Should I drop the file over?

It’s disgusting how many of them try to bother us about paying them as if Pinterest will make me rich with sales it won’t! I was supposed to try a 2k challenge but life’s been tough yesterday cleaned and the bug people came today. This cough is probably a cold so hoping allergies go away by tomorrow. I got Unbox the Room which is like Unpacking and Whisper of the House to play. Cozy games and filming them if fun I want to do more hidden object game walkthroughs. I’ve also been researching Tiktok shop and how to make sales since people are making crazy money at it and if I could do that maybe I might not need to collect unemployment and just do that full-time, game and stream on Tiktok and Twitch those are jobs too. I’ve been deciding on what I want to do and taking me time which is needed haven’t been posting many Youtube videos or streams since my allergies are so bad! But I hope it goes away so I can focus on building my Youtube, Tiktok and Twitch I want to post more and give myself a chance to make it work. I admit there is a shitload of book marketing scammer, fake authors and weirdo videos to film hell maybe my channels will take off and I won’t need a day job! I plan on gathering all the stuff I got on tiktok and making videos on them. I need to get my mental health back in check I even got a neck mount to review and I didn’t get that light for nothing. If more emails come I’ll be roasting them and showing the responses on here I’m having fun telling off scammers!

I got myself out of my Writers block and there will be a sequel to Raven's Revenge!

Being laid off is weird I don’t have a stable job right now until Youtube, Tiktok, Medium, my books and Twitch takes off. It’s been depressing trying to find my way everything was all tied to my day job and that is where all my energy went. I have been sleeping like crap, barely eating, showering and not taking good care of myself. Also being hit with book marketing scammers left and right as I promote my books don’t help! Like really they don’t understand what broke and unemployed means. Like they think authors are rich apparently like no it takes time and more books. So many stupid emails like these:

That doesn’t even compare to all the damn screenshots with book marketers thinking we are made of money. Hell these book club people bother me daily one wanted 250 for it like hell no that is groceries or a rent payment authors aren’t fucking rich.

But it gave me an idea, though and I thought of how I can make The Killer Contract Agency and Ghost Reapers to combine the two. Originally Ghost Reapers was supposed to be just exorcise ghosts and pass them on but now I’m thinking hmmm millions of people are being scammed daily by the third world country idiots located in Africa, India I even heard there are other ones too. And the original Contract Agency was based off the concept of the character being bullied so much she got super powers to take them down from her kill list and all the stuff they did to her. This time I want to do something with demons and soul swallowing if anyone deserves to be victims it is scammers they are terrible people. Some book marketers will employ photos they find on google to trick authors into giving them money and a simple reverse image search will reveal their photos are stolen. I’m thinking of doing a video on how to do it. I’ve also came to the conclusion that I’m not an unemployed loser but an author trying to make writing stories her career. I also love turning ordinary stuff like retail, office, day jobs into my books and combine it with supernatural elements. Writing is my passion and I can’t wait to dive into the world again since it’s been way too long. I’m going to enjoy this time writing and publishing and my recent block is now over with so working on Mia’s Gift, Hazel’s revenge and trying to eat, sleep normal and get a routine will be the key for me to get my mindset back. Writing literally makes me happy so it makes me sad when these stupid book marketing scammers be rude over sales and reviews like buy the book or go away I’m not giving my money to someone I’ve never met. Book marketers forget authors have food, rent and bills to worry over and currently trying to make unemployment benefits last till I either A find another day job or b have my books, streams and youtube videos/tiktoks take off. I’m feeling better now that I’m getting myself back in check mentally. For the longest time I was drinking more then normal and got into the habit of day drinking. But now with my writing goals back I’ll have healthier ways of passing time.

It was a Friday night for me, and I had just got done streaming for the day I am also a ghost talker with the ability to see ghosts, exorcise them and talk to people’s relatives.

I wanted to find someone since I was tired of being by myself.

I have the latest desktop for gaming, food challenge videos, vlogs, and a smartphone to post on social media sites to build a platform. I finally have the freedom now that I didn’t have before.

I was happy to get a break. A break from it all is what I needed.

I also needed someone to spend said break with since it sometimes gets lonely just me being there.

Still I don’t have any idea on how to pick-up guys at coffee shops, and I have anxiety, so it is not ideal at all. Not for someone like me at all. I was terrified in person.

I think I’m over being in a funk at this point so I plan on doing more Twitch streams soon I’ve been loving the game Unpacking and I have a Steam Deck one of the best purchases since I game in bed. Writing again means I’ll be getting back more energy to film videos like convos with book marketers, Fake authors and weirdos ever since I’ve began promoting my book about a streamer getting scammed the romance scammers have been even trying their shit not realizing it is a book but guess what once you are scammed you are put on a suckers list. Story behind Raven’s Revenge is I was the vicitm of a romance scam 7 years ago got 2,000 out of me and had to close the bank and lost online access due to him using it. Lesson learned but it also made me take up scam baiting since it’s hilarious turning them down. These book marketing scammers don’t realize I screenshot everything so I can make content and also I’m monetized on Youtube, Tiktok and Twitch so literally can make more money off them then they can off me. They don’t get shit from me.

2026 Goals and what I want to focus on this year!

I’ve been using alot of time to decide where I want to go from here. I know I want to publish 4 books, make more Tiktok and Youtube videos, and stream on Twitch more maybe even attempt to stream on Tiktok but I’m kind of scared of there since people I’ve noticed are ruder on Tiktok live then Twitch. I’ve seen alot of live streamers on Tiktok and follow alot of the mukbangers people can be rude to the streamers. They like even asks them if they have a real job as if it isn’t a job. It is and can be.

I want to push out more videos though like maybe film mukbangs once I get an appetite again haven’t been eating much just water and liquor. I was so depressed over the weekend I wanted a drink but refrained from it stuff was taken care of this morning that was bothering me so now I can relax and create more content. I’ve got a cooler keyboard to use that lights up and looks like a typewriter and you can even use it with an IPAD pro of which is on my Throne list with crowdfunding enabled. I need to focus more on showering daily, eating right, taking care of me. I let the day job be everything and instead of putting my hobbies like writing books, streams, and Youtube videos as a priorty lost myself in the process. So so many times I’ll be spending working on my novels, taking more baths, playing video games creating videos. I need to put my hobbies as a prority now so maybe it will be my job and not just a hobby. Also going to let stuff not bother me as much especially book idiots. I’m going to just block and delete people who want to argue or cause drama getting way too old to be bothered. Also got bothered again by the same pushy book idiot like I have Medium. None of these idiots do research. Also been sleeping all day and up at night. Been watching streams and Youtube and Tiktoks to pass the time and I think I’d rather do it full-time more then being an author. I still got 3 hot sauce videos to do. The new tripod for POV shots to use. I need to sit down and record the Ember audiobook. Allergies are also rough so it finally stopped bothering as much. I am super tired since today had to take care of something but now one worry down and I can breathe and enjoy my day. Time to relax and spending the rest of the day watching my fave movies and playing on my Steam deck I love it for gaming in bed the weather doesn’t help! Cold here! I think this year I want to focus on my books, Youtube, tiktok and Twitch and more on self-care too!

What these "book marketers" aren't understanding about real authors!

I am marketing my book pretty hard and booked a few promos for it. I keep getting hit daily with these stupid book marketing emails and DMS alot more than normal. It’s particularly annoying when I’m trying to share the link and these idiots just comment their bs marketing services without doing their research. It’s starting to get so bad I’ll block and delete so tired of dealing with it they act like authors are rich and we aren’t. It’s like they think we are loaded and we aren’t I’m still job searching so why the fuck would I give a stranger money when food, rent and bills are a thing. I’ll share these emails monthly so authors are aware to block and delete there seems to be an influx everytime I try to make my books visible. Also writing a book is tough and I’m not giving a stranger anything when I can do it myself here are emails I’ve got this month!

Hell over the weekend got into it when a fake author got mad I didn’t want to chat all day and cried about it online. Sorry, I don’t want to answer what my genre is when it’s on my profile. DMS and emails are a bit much and it doesn’t help it’s full of bs with the same fucking questions. A few even made fun of the fact that I’m jobless way to be pieces of shit. Just got another bs email just now the dipshit didn’t even bother putting it in English. Even best sellers get these too, so the more I publish the more BS emails that is just normal. I’m going to publish Mia’s Gift soon then work on others afterwards. Promoting the book is harder then writing it due to all these stupid scam artists. It’s super gross how many of them claim to read your book when it’s just the synopsis like stop claiming you read it when you didn’t also alot of them are so lazy they don’t use their real pic just one off google I’ll be showing how to track them in a tutorial too. We got hit with snow over the weekend so I spent most of it sleeping and gaming.
