I LOVE the cover of Irregular Verbs; I immediately thought of The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury when I first saw it; I only realised how apt it was after I had read the title story, of course. (The Bradbury reference b.t.w. is also very apt: these stories are very tender, and very, very dark). I was curious: do you, as author, have much input into the cover and/or overall book design?

CZP's amazing cover artist Erik Mohr (who deserves all credit for the cover) did a first version which my publisher showed to me. That version was a bit different from the final one: the title and byline were done in logo style at the top of the page. My only feedback was to add more variety in the words on the figure's back, but in fixing that Erik came up with the idea of having all of the cover text there, which I think is a big part of what makes the cover so striking.
