Kids and reading!
Hello to everyone!
This year is filling up with children, and more children... not my own... but school children!
The first exciting event for me has been as a 2012 National Simultaneous Story time Reader, in Tasmania, with a wonderful group of Year 2&3 children... We all had a great interactive session and then UnicornKisses invited the kids to become a part of their WISH 1st Edition & Benny Posters Giveaway!
It was incredibly difficult to choose who should win because all of the fifty or so entries of '25 words or less' entries were fabulous, so we extended the prizes from 2 books and 2 poster sets to 4 of each... and then still felt so sad that we couldn't give prizes to everyone... but UnicornKisses stickers and bookmarks were given to all so no one went empty handed.
With more schools to give my interactive 'Talk to an author' presentations to this year, (and more prizes,) this should be a great year for reading and literacy, and I look forward to the coming months!
Cheers,
Deby

We create because we can't not create.
In the past I wrote books in silence with only the beauty of nature to enthral me... the black swans of the lake, the pelicans, the wild lightning storms and the seasonal moods of the doves and the mulberry tree by the door... but things changed.
I moved away from the lake... sometimes I'm in different locations throughout the year... the bright green hills of one place, the coloured birds and the placid orchards of another, in a café, a traffic jam, on a train, so I have learned to write my books 'on the run'... and for this, I have found another way to create altogether... and I would never have thought it possible ... a headset, a laptop, sometimes a rose in a vase and amazing music.
There is always a way to make your art happen... and we each have to find it and never let circumstances stop us.
