Jamie Seitz is a middle-grade and young adult fiction author. Her funny backyard garden adventures also become stories that pop up in the monthly humor column, In the Weeds, in Garden Gate Magazine. Besides writing, her talents include being an expert maker of guacamole and the perfect mixed CD for any road trip, knitting extremely long scarves, and having a knack for finding the funny in everyday life. She lives in Iowa with her husband, four kids, two dogs, three cats, and a partridge in a pear tree.

I also loved reading about New York …moreI grew up reading Beverly Clearly, and I desperately wanted to live on Klickitat Street. (If you know, you know.) I also loved reading about New York City in The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankenweiler, especially how Claudia and Jamie ran away and hid in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As an adult, NYC is my favorite city, and wandering through the Met, part of me pretends I'm Claudia. Basically, everywhere I've traveled as an adult was somewhere exotic I read about when I was eight and living in the Midwest. So far, every place has surpassed my expectations.(less)

Writing funny is hard work, yo.

My mom often asks me when I'm going to write a funny book. This is probably because I like to share the funny things I notice in my life on social media most days or because I wrote a short story series called Nick & Amy, very loosely based on my own marriage, that was on purpose, over the top funny, or because in real life, a sense of humor is my favorite thing
