Kathy lives in South Africa, where the summers are hot, the winters cool, and bugs thrive. She writes fiction in many forms, most of the time with women who feel deeply, men who care strongly, and characters who learn lessons along the way.

Every so often, she sprinkles a little magic in her stories. When she’s not hectically busy, she loves reading romance and fantasy novels, going dancing, watching movies, water painting, and exploring the spiritual world.

This book was hard to put down. The story and mystery kept me intrigued. It was well-written and well-paced. Well, except for the last half or so.

I felt like some of the moments before the "bad" people died rather far-fetched as though the author had

"Huge holes in this storyline

This book really annoyed me. It has huge inconsistencies that make you realise how the story falls apart. How on Earth would the nuns believe that Kitty was Elvira, when Kitty would have been wearing smart clothing and not" Read more of this review »

"If you like Steven King, this book for you.
If you like historical fiction & want to learn about past injustices-- not so much.

The Girl in the Letter is generally a quick page-turner, with lots of twists, ghosts and violence. From that standpoint, it" Read more of this review »

"The history of houses for unmarried mothers is a very depressing one. It has not been discussed enough and should attract more authors to write about it.

In this sense, the book The Girl in the Letter was very welcomed for me. This is a story about" Read more of this review »

I wrote this review years ago and it's really outdated.

For one, I don't have those strict religious ideas that I had then.

This book changed the trajectory of my life. It's one of the most pivotal books in the evolution of my soul as it led me down a

Glennon Doyle Melton
“Wherever you go, there you are. Your emptiness goes with you. Maddening. Things that help: writing, reading, water, walks, forgiving myself every other minute, practicing easy yoga, taking deep breaths, and petting my dogs. These things don't fill me completely, but they remind me that it is not my job to fill myself. It's just my job to notice my emptiness and find graceful ways to live as a broken, unfilled human...

If there's a silver lining to the emptiness, here it is: the unfillable is what brings people together. I've never made a friend by bragging about my strengths, but I've made countless by sharing my weakness and my emptiness.”
Glennon Doyle Melton, Carry On, Warrior: Thoughts on Life Unarmed

Glennon Doyle Melton
“We think our job as humans is to avoid pain, our job as parents is to protect our children from pain, and our job as friends is to fix each other's pain. Maybe that's why we all feel like failures so often - because we all have the wrong job description for love.”
Glennon Doyle Melton, Love Warrior

Glennon Doyle Melton
“I think one of the keys to happiness is accepting that I am never going to be perfectly happy. Life is uncomfortable. So I might as well get busy loving the people around me. I’m going to stop trying so hard to decide whether they are the “right people” for me and just take deep breaths and love my neighbors. I’m going to take care of my friends. I’m going to find peace in the ’burbs. I’m going to quit chasing happiness long enough to notice it smiling right at me.”
Glennon Melton, Carry On, Warrior: Thoughts on Life Unarmed

Glennon Doyle Melton
“Women who are concerned with being pretty think about what they look like, but women who are concerned with being beautiful think about what they are looking at. They are taking it all in. They are taking in the whole beautiful world and making all that beauty theirs to give away to others.”
Glennon Doyle Melton, Love Warrior

Glennon Doyle Melton
“Because love is not something for which to search or wait or hope or dream. It's simply something to do.”
