Created Beings
Genesis chapter 1 states that people are created beings. This literally means that Elohim created the Heavens, the Earth, and all that are within them. This creative act includes mankind and shows that mankind belongs to Him. It also shows that He has the authority and the right to make the rules and guidelines regarding how life is to be lived. Throughout the Scriptures, this is conveyed in many terms such as the One Most High and Master.
Genesis chapter 2 states that people are relational beings. This is described in simple terms by the phrase "it is not good that the man should be alone" (Gen 2:18 KJV). Thus, relationships become a key part of living life. First and foremost is the relationship that mankind has with the Almighty who will later become known as Provider and Heavenly Father. Following this is the special relationship with a spouse, who is the one person with whom a lifetime will be shared.
Genesis chapter 3 states that people are fallen beings. Mankind has produced its first act of disobedience and has become guilty of breaking the Creator's rules. The penalty for breaking the rules was known to be death. After this act, mankind deserves to die. Within the physical, death does not occur immediately nor is mankind totally destroyed. However, in the spiritual, separation from the Creator follows and life now comes with a curse and much pain.
The Scriptures, within the next several hundred chapters, state that believers are sanctified beings. Through almost six thousand years of time, the effects of sin and of a broken relationship with the Creator are shown. At the same time, the Creator reveals His efforts to bring mankind back into close relationship. This includes the covenant relationship given to the Nation of Israel so He may dwell with His people, the physical arrival and death of the Messiah for the salvation of mankind, and the sending of His Spirit to help sanctify His people. Each of these contributes toward the final goal of achieving the close relationship that the Almighty intended from the beginning.
Revelation chapter 22 states that believers are restored beings. The final judgment on mankind has occurred. Those who have chosen a relationship with the One Most High through the Savior once again have a close relationship with the Creator. The effects of sin, such as pain and suffering, are no longer a part of life and people dwell with the One Most High in a new Heaven and Earth. It is a new relationship in a new creation and the beginning of the next chapter of life.
