The Next Round Wins 2025 IndieReader Discovery Award for Romance
May, 29, 2025 – On Thursday, May 29th, IndieReader, one of the original review services for self, hybrid and independently published authors, announced the winners of the 15th annual IR Discovery Awards (IRDAs) for 2025. THE NEXT ROUND by EVA FRANCES won in the ROMANCE category.
IndieReader launched the IRDAs in 2011 to help notable indie authors receive the attention of top publishing professionals, with the goal of reaching more readers.
Noted Amy Edelman, author and founder of IR, “The books that won the IRDAs this year are not simply great indie books; they are great books, period. We hope that our efforts via the IRDAs ensure that they receive attention from the people who matter most. Potential readers.”

4 March: Each year, Reader Views holds the Readers Views Literary Awards to recognise the work of Indie authors in a multitude of categories and genres. Today, The Next Round by Eva Frances was named one of the finalists in the Romance category for 2024 copyright, amongst award-winning works of established authors, including Vera Bell, Ruth F. Stevens, April J. Wildman, Kat Caldwell, Kathleen Behony, and Jamie Karcza.

The Next Round, Double Finalist for 2025 HOLT Medallion
25 May: The Next Round has been named a finalist in two categories of the 2025 HOLT Medallion Award: Best First Book & Long Contemporary Romance.
The HOLT Medallion is hosted by the Virginia Romance Writers (USA). It was named for VRW’s first elected president, Cynthia Holt, and serves as the acronym for Honoring Outstanding Literary Talent. In the early 1990s, there were several contests available to unpublished romance writers, but only a few recognizing the achievements of published writers in romantic fiction. The HOLT has been awarded annually since 1995. Medallions are awarded to the authors whose books are selected by a panel of romance readers as the best in each of twelve categories. Read more

The 2025 New York Book Festival considers published, self-published and independent publisher non-fiction, fiction, children’s books, young adult, how-to, poetry, wild card (anything goes!), unpublished stories, science fiction/horror, photography/art, spiritual, business, romance, cookbooks, memoir, self-help, compilations/anthologies and biography/autobiography works.
Submitted works were judged by a panel of industry experts using the following criteria:
1) General excellence and the author's passion for telling a good story.
2) The potential of the work to reach a wider audience.
