David Cornford has been writing ever since David Gemmell invited him into his home, made him a cup of tea and tried to explain that Rocky was the best movie ever made. Holding Snaga The Sender, looking up at a wall of pistols from the John Shannow novels, he knew he had found his calling.

Born in Canada, raised in England and then let loose on the world, David has lived in India, America and now calls Western Australia home.

When he is not lost to his writing, David enjoys trying to grow every sort of fruit and vegetable and watching anything apocalyptic. He is supported by his wife of unfathomable patience and his bemused daughter who is a pixie-me

The gallus and the usumgal

The books published so far in the series mention the gallus and the usumgal, but, with the exception of The Forge, they currently remain on the periphery of the story. That is about to change, so I thought that I would provide a bit of information about them.

The gallus are the beings that inhabit the realm of Kur. Kur is the opposite of Anki, the main setting of the series. Where Anki is physical,

Chosen Of The Dark Realm by David Cornford
"Thoroughly enjoyed this! The characters, the lore, the fantasy. The writing style I really enjoyed as well. Can't wait for the next one!!! Classic good v evil with a regular mix in the middle. Loved all the characters. "
Blood and Wild Places by David Cornford
"This stand-alone novella is part of a larger series. It is but a glimpse into the author's great imagination as it's obvious he has created an entire fantastical world. The first few chapters left me feeling a bit disjointed since I couldn't see the " Read more of this review »
Blood and Wild Places by David Cornford
"Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book; the following is my honest evaluation of the Novella.

This is a sharp, fast‑moving novella that stands comfortably on its own while belonging to a larger body of work. Even without reading other works, " Read more of this review »

"Starting off this review by saying that I am thankful for the preface that explained that this story is part of a much larger universe of books/series. I could tell that there was a much larger world as I read Blood and Wild Places and would have bee" Read more of this review »

“The general threw his head up and roared. It was the terrible sound of something savage that had been caged finally finding release.”
David Cornford, Chosen Of The Dark Realm

“Turning away from his father was wrenching, and Samuel heard his quiet sobbing as he walked out of the kitchen and started climbing the stairs. His dad was his rock, was the solidity and strength that underpinned the family. Seeing him like this was beyond unsettling, it was shattering. His father was their strength, his mother their heart. Together, they were his life, and not only was he leaving them, leaving everything he had ever known, he was also breaking them.”
David Cornford, Chosen Of The Dark Realm

“Only the Shepherd guides us along a path where our actions enrich ourselves, those around us, and indeed everything that lives in this world. It is a path of fulfilment, longevity, and renewal. The Church exists to help people find that path and to walk it when, at times, it can seem impossibly hard and its rewards painfully out of reach.”

“Inch by inch he rose, scraping up from a reality of nothing toward a dream of something. It was a journey of blood and pain. It was a near impossible climb on something broken that brutally resisted his advancement and promised to break him.
It was the physical embodiment of his life.”

David Cornford Update. The pixie-mermaid-fairy's fish died. We are disappointed, but not entirely surprised, at the sudden departure of the enigmatic aquatic animal; however we are quite surprised at the pixie-mermaid-fairy's nonchalance.

Rest in peace little fishy.
