Mind Game now available for pre-order

I’m very excited that Mind Game will be published in eBook and print editions by Millikan Press and is now available for pre-order in Kindle format on Amazon (Click here to view) . The June 23rd release date shown on the Amazon page is merely a place-holder; Mind Game will be available much sooner. If you pre-order now, your copy of Mind Game will be auto-delivered to your Kindle or Kindle app on its release date. That makes it a lot more convenient than needing to check back with Amazon to fi...

Kindle Scout: my third & fourth weeks

Mind Game started strong on its third week on Kindle Scout by being on “Hot & Trending” for most of the first day, a nice improvement over the last couple of days of the first week. It tapered off during the week and then exploded up to multiple back-to-back, twenty-four-hour days of “Hot & Trending” during its final week. By the conclusion of its time competing on Kindle Scout, Mind Game’s page had been viewed by nearly 2,200 unique visitors, with the majority of them being visitors who disc...

Kindle Scout: my second week

From a “Hot & Trending” standpoint, Mind Game did great on its first week, and it continued strong going into its second week. It was on the hourly Hot & Trending list for 90% of the first four days of the second week. Then, as I approached the middle of the four-week campaign, the results began tailing off. I’d been told by authors who had competed on Kindle Scout that that’s a typical pattern, but Mind Game had been doing so well that I’d almost convinced myself that I’d be able to avoid th...

Kindle Scout: my first week

It's a good thing that I'm a writer instead of a singer or dancer, because unlike American Idol that's on television, Kindle Scout is strictly words on a website. Believe me, I (and, I'm rather certain, you) wouldn't want to see me performing on the screen!

I became aware of Kindle Scout a few months ago when a writer who had been successful with his Kindle Scout entry, spoke to my local mystery writers' group. I was very intrigued because it's become increasingly difficult for authors to attr...

Watch out! JP David is entering the blogosphere

I think that I must've been hiding under a rock for the past twenty years. Why? Because I'm probably the only writer who doesn't write a blog. Well, that's about to change. Effective today, January 26, 2017, I'm officially entering the blogosphere with the write stuff: JP David's blog . What will I be writing about? That's for me to know and you to find out. Hint: It will have to do with...writing!

DOUBLE TAKE is free on Kindle Nov 9 & Nov 10

Picture I've been giving a great deal of thought to Amazon's Free Kindle eBook promotion, reading about the pros and cons and debating whether it would be good for me to try. Well, I'm trying it and DOUBLE TAKE (a Hank Hammond, P.I. mystery featuring Lori Reed) will be free on Friday, November 9, 2012 and Saturday, November 10, 2012.

Click here to take a look: http://tinyurl.com/november9-10.

I'll be tracking the results and will give my impressions in a future blog posting. In the meantime....happy...

EBOOK PRICING: thoughts from an author

I didn't think that it would ever be so, but I'vebecome a huge fan of ebooks. Not only are they easy to purchase (just a clickaway), but they are extraordinarily convenient. I can carry dozens of bookswith me when I travel with no additional bulk or weight. I can adjust the fontsize, line spacing, and margins to suit a varietyof environments (largerwhen I'm on the treadmill, smaller when I'm in my favorite chair). They neverget dog-eared. The pages never yellow. The spine never cracks. I can...

I Was Robbed!!

I Was Robbed!!

Last week, while at the local public library working on the next
Hank Hammond, P.I. mystery , I was robbed. No, it wasn't at gunpoint. And no, I wasn't put in any danger unless you count the elevated level ofmy blood pressure.

What happened was that while using the self-checkout(ironically, for a book on apprehending criminals), I inadvertently left my Nook
on the counter. When I discoveredmy loss, I returned and found that it was missing and that no one had turned itin. In shor...

Who are the top 10 television detectives? Part I

In Double Take: a Hank Hammond, P.I. murder mystery, Hank  is inspired to become a  private investigator in part because he grew up envying Paul Drake on Perry Mason, and in part because he  didn't think much of Thomas Magnum's skills on Magnum P.I., believing that  he--Hank--could do much better.  Later in the book, Hank and his security consultant friend Arturo discuss some of the old television detectives  including Jim Rockford, Barnaby Jones, and Frank Cannon. It got me to  thinking: ...
