I watched it for the first time soon after I had returned from a study-abroad program in Ireland. I had visited many of the islands off the west coast while I was in Ireland and had completely fallen in love with them. I knew I wanted to set a magical, romantic story on one of the islands, but I wasn't sure what that story would be until I learned of the selkie myth. Thanks for asking a question! :)(less)
