Certainly the two greatest writers (arguably) of Western Civilization comes to mind. Homer gave us the eternal tale of Helen of Troy and Paris (in the Iliad) and Odysseus and Penelope (in the Odyssey). Shakespeare gave us Romeo and Juliet of course. And who didn’t like the story of Yuri and Laura in Doctor Zhivago, or Rodrigo and Doña Ximena in El Cid, or Viola and William in Shakespeare in Love or Jamal and Latika in Slumdog Millionaire? But then there is Robin Hood and the Lady Marion, Sir Lancelot and Guinevere, and the list goes on and on. We all love happy endings, though tragic or forbidden love is often more tantalizing or interesting. (less)

09/15/2012: J. Follansbee on Gather the Shadowmen: “McMillin illuminates a shady chapter in America’s war for independence while offering a character who could easily star in a dozen high-seas tales.” J. Read Mr. Follansbee’s at:

- Kirkus Reviews

“The author’s knowledge of Geopolitics … is evident throughout this excellent and entertaining novel. The Savagery of Man … combines elements of compelling espionage thriller and dystopian fiction in its depiction of a world on fire. The action and drama are omnipresent and the author excels at throwing a curveball or two on the road to a rewarding climax.”
