Glasgow-born actor David Kinnaird has spent the best part of a quarter of a century sharing his enthusiasm for the oddities of our history and folklore through lectures and performances, and as scriptwriter of many ‘Living History’ drama projects at heritage sites throughout Scotland. How do you deal with writer’s block?

David Kinnaird I read. Or, I take an old piece of writing - one I'm generally quite happy with - and tinker with it: shortening or expanding it, depending on my whim…moreI read. Or, I take an old piece of writing - one I'm generally quite happy with - and tinker with it: shortening or expanding it, depending on my whim. Looking at how I constructed or crafter that piece tends to kick-start my 'creative juices'. If that doesn't work then I'll go for a walk, make food, clean, or perform some displacement activity utterly unrelated to the work at hand - allowing me to return to the blank page with an uncluttered mind(less)
