Robert L. Cauley is a simple family man, seasoned Army National Guard veteran, and author living in the charming rural area of Southeast Oklahoma. He and his wife have been happily together since 2007, and they have three wonderful children, grounding his work in the warmth of a loving family and the warrior's discipline he gained in service.

He crafts stories that resonate, utilizing his life experiences and values to imbue every page with honor and resolve. His personal motto, passed down through his family, is “Live on the edge of hope!”—a call to push beyond despair, beat the odds, and find life's meaning by moving forward with love and hope.

Robert is the author of the Traditional Lov3 trilogy, "Love is blind to origin; it only sees the

Depends on the story world's context and who I can bring.

Suppose I can bring my whole family, easy, Frank Baum's Oz, Charles Dodgson's Wonderland, or J.K. Rowling's Hogwarts. The kids would have a blast in any of those places.

If I can only bring one person, my wife, well, JRR Tolkien's Middle-earth to join up in a battle or quest, or we would retire on Anne Rice's Eden Island.

And if I had to go at it alone, Frank Herbert's Arrakis or John Norman's Gor, either seems like a good solo adventure. (less)

"The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas
(I loved that Edmond Dantès went from a nobody to a wealthy and influential man. The revenge thing is just a kicker for me.)

"The Odyssey" by Homer
(Odysseus's long journey home keeps me grounded in what matters: home, which to me is not a place but people.)

"The Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer
(Two stories in this anthology consistently hit at my heart: "The Wife of Bath's Tale" and "The Knight's Tale," one about love and the other about how relationships should work.)

"Beowulf" by Unknown
(The feats of Beowulf sing to the desire in my soul of being brave. I wanted to wade in the darkness, fending off the monsters, and to this day, I still have this desire. Maybe that's just the hopeful youth at my core.)

Those are the books that remain a constant on my summer reading list. I first read them when I was 13 and 14, and fell in love with them. I pick one up every summer to do some light reading. (less)

The Philosophical Battlefield of Fantasia

We often remember childhood classics for the wonder they sparked, but rarely for the existential dread they managed to sneak past our parents. One of the most interesting is The Neverending Story.

You’d never believe a "timeless and cherished family movie" would present multiple, high-stakes philosophies competing in a single 90-minute runtime. I’m talking about Absurdism, Romanticism, Existentiali Read more of this blog post »
