Preview of A Stranger On Candlelight Lane - Chapter 1

You can pre-order this book by clicking here... https://amzn.to/35LkVPb
Nobody ever ended up in Candlelight Lane by accident. If you were there, it was because you intended to be there. No signs pointed to it, no maps showed it and the road leading to the single street hamlet was completely hidden from view by the surrounding hills. It wasn’t even on Google Street View. If you were there, it was because you meant to be there. That’s why strangers were always treated with suspicion.
Her car was blo...

All Things Leger

I've been wondering where I want to go with this site for a long time and I've now come to the decision that I want it to be a kind of Leger Wiki. I'll be uploading new information on a daily basis including character profiles, behind the scenes secrets, features on different Leger stories and links to my online stores where you can buy Leger as well as other Lacey Dearie out of print books.

If you have any ideas about what you'd like to see on this Leger site, please do get in touch and let me k...

Leger's Quarantine by Lacey Dearie

Leger's Quarantine has arrived! It's the 41st story in the Leger Cat Sleuth Mysteries and was released on 18th June 2020, although as always, Amazon list it as being released a day before. This has broken my long standing rule of releasing a book on a Thursday. I really wish I hadn't broken that rule because as my superstitious beliefs told me they would, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.
Firstly, you might have noticed that Leger's Quarantine is book number 41. I skipped 40 but it's ...

4th February 2020 - Update

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to post a quick message to update you on where I'm at with the writing. I've had several emails over the last few weeks asking when new books will be coming and the answer is, I don't have specific dates yet.
Leger books
I've written seven more Leger stories. They run in sequence so the seventh wouldn't make sense without having read the sixth and so on. Unfortunately I'm stuck on the first book, Leger's Gratitude. There are a few situations and twists I can't get...

Currently Shelved

When I started self-publishing way back in 2011, I didn't think for a minute that I would ever shelf one of my books. To be honest, the thought of having so many books available for sale as I do now never even occurred to me, so shelving was unthinkable. Now that I'm a few years down the line and an old hand at this self-publishing malarky, I find myself having to make business decisions that are usually only made by those at the top of the tree in the publishing industry. I suppose as a self...

A to Z Blogging Challenge: Z is for Zigzags

Today on my A to Z of Nanowrimo, I'm writing Z is for Zigzags. Yes, I am really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. There is a very limited choice for Z but I think I have chosen a word that sums up how I feel on 30th November. It's similar to how I feel on 30th April, after completing two separate A to Z Blogging Challenges.

Z for zigzags symbolises the stage you get to when you're writing where you're so completely exhausted that you don't even know if you're writing actual words a...

A to Z Blogging Challenge: Y is for Young Writers Program

This is the penultimate post for this year's challenge and just to make life easy for myself, I'm going to write about a topic I know nothing about. No, seriously. I'm doing this. I've heard the Young Writers' Program mentioned before but all I know is that it's part of the Nanowrimo concept, so I'm going to write about that for Y this year.

Ok, so the Young Writers' Program is a way of getting kids who are under 18 to write novels. It's focused around the flagship event in November and...

Some Practice Poems and Silliness

Today I want to share some of the absolute nonsense that I wrote when I was practising poetry and techniques. I wrote these one Sunday morning in February when I was still feeling quite depressed and Alex was helping me out of that phase of my life. I couldn't get the techniques that I was learning nailed and Alex recommended that I just sit and write nonsense, just to get it out and nobody ever had to see it.
Then a couple of months later, I put them on the Internet. Because that's how...

A to Z Blogging Challenge: X is for Xeric

Last post of the week for the A to Z Blogging Challenge and I'm sure anyone who has been following my posts is wondering what I'm going to do with X for my A to Z of Nanowrimo. Well, here you go. It's X for Xeric.
Xeric - adj. of, pertaining to, or having desert-like conditions
I first read that as dessert-like conditions and was really excited. If you did too, then I'm sorry but this post is far less exciting than you thought it was going to be. Here's a picture of a chocolate dessert, ju...

A to Z Blogging Challenge: W is for Word Count

Happy Friday! It's almost the weekend and it's almost the end of the month, which means it's payday for my family. I can't tell you how long a month it's been. But it's as if this payday has renewed my energy and enthusiasm and I can't wait to get started on this post about W for Word Count.
a to z blogging challenge 2019

There are some Nanowrimo posts that are really obvious and this is one of them. When I started this challenge I got a pen and paper and listed all the letters of the alphabet. Then I wrote possible choices...
