The Journey Continues: Gratitude, Giveaways, and the Gift of Forgiveness

Hello Goodreads community,

This is my first time writing an author blog post, and I have to admit, it feels both exciting and humbling. As someone who has spent over two decades in journalism, I'm used to telling other people's stories. Telling my own in The Blessings of Forgiveness: The Healing Journey of Blaise Labbe has been one of the most vulnerable experiences of my life.

To everyone who has read, reviewed, or simply added my book to your reading list: Thank you. Your support means more than you know.

I grew up in Fightingville, Louisiana, navigating the complexities of colorism, systemic racism, and family trauma that many people face but few talk about openly. For years, I carried anger, hurt, and questions that seemed to have no answers. Writing this memoir wasn't just about sharing my story, but it was about finding healing through forgiveness.

And that's a journey that never really ends.

This December, I'm giving back to this amazing community with two special giveaways:

🎁 First Giveaway (December 6-18): Three physical copies of the book
🎁 Second Giveaway (December 17-27): 100 e-book copies delivered instantly

If you've been considering reading the book, this is your opportunity! Click the links above to enter both giveaways right here on Goodreads.

"You must realize you can't control what other people do or say. You are not in control of anything. Once you know that you have no control over what people do or say, then that's when you can learn to let go completely."

That's one of the passages from the book that readers tell me resonates most. It took me decades to truly understand that lesson, and writing it down helped me finally live it.

To my readers and supporters: Whether you're dealing with family challenges, struggling to forgive someone who hurt you, or simply trying to make peace with your past — I wrote this book for you. Not because I have all the answers, but because I know what it's like to search for them.

Since publishing this memoir, I've been inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame, won multiple Emmy awards, and continued leading newsrooms that serve millions. But the messages I receive from readers who say this book helped them? Those matter most.

Every person who reads about my mother's quiet resilience, my uncle's unwavering belief in me, or my own stumbling path toward forgiveness — you're part of something bigger. You're proof that our stories matter, that our struggles don't define us, and that healing is always possible.

Thank you for being on this journey with me. I'm still learning, still growing, and still discovering what it means to live in grace.

With deep gratitude,
Blaise Labbe

P.S. - If you've read the book and it resonated with you, I'd be honored if you'd leave a review here on Goodreads. Your words help other readers find the stories they need. And if you're in San Antonio, you might catch me on Cedric Fisher's INFLUENCE Magazine Show: he's been an incredible champion for authors like me. 📺
