Grief Can Stick Around
My second book, Love is Forever, talks about loss and love. It shows how we carry someone’s love with us whereever we go. This thought is universal as this book is now international. However we can carry our “broken hearts” too and this can be forever. I think this concept is a difficult one as we can think, talk, cherish, do things in memory of loved ones- as it is nice to let their love fill us everyday with our warm thoughts of them. But life isn’t just happy and cheery. Sadness, anger, denial and so many other emotions that come with grief are inside us too. With time, grief softens but it may never leave. I like to think I carry my parents love, whom I have lost both to illnesses these past 4 years. I have also come to realize that I carry a broken heart everywhere I go, as I miss them everyday. Their love keeps me going, but I know with love there is a price of hurt and loss. If you are missing someone- may you carry your missed one’s love to keep yourself smiling and know it is okay to carry your broken heart too. We sometimes want to talk about them but other times find things difficult. Such a double edged sword as my insight is both. I truely do believe love is worth it and makes all lives better regardless of the pain it gives. Here is a great article on 4 reasons grief can stay. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/11870256

Fathers
Fathers bring to mind the words strength, caretaking, teaching, loving and bring words of wisdom. There is many more words that would describe each of our Father’s individually. I know I was lucky to have an amazing Father. Here is a great article that demonstrates what a father figure creates for a child. They include playing with peers well, the family’s health is better, kids are better prepared for school and more successful academically, their children are more verbally expressive and start speaking earlier, they are prone to less depression, and a few more benefits. Read this wonderful article about Fathers to learn more. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/778593...

Wyoming Marching Band Part of Indy 500 Festivities
This was the 100th year celebration for the Indy 500. It was also the 60th year for the Indy 500 parade. Casper, Wyoming marching band, the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps, got to be part of the amazing festivities! They have been a part of these activities several times before but this was the big year. Their cowboy hats make them recognizable to many. With much of my family living in Indianapolis and being part of the Indy 500 fun, it is incredible to see Wyoming represented in one of the biggest car races of the year!

Gardening Can Be Time Together
Children can spend hours playing in dirt. There are worms to be found, bugs to discover, rocks to collect, and many other discoveries. It is also soothing to spend the time outside playing, exploring and digging. This makes it easy to spend quality time with your little ones.
Start with finding a place for a garden. Allow them time to be right in the middle of the dirt exploring. Go pick out plants to put in the garden together and put them in the dirt together. Having their own gardening tools is a lot of fun for them. Talk about cycles of plants, how they grow, and allow them to use their 5 senses to discover more.
I found a great short article that builds on this activity. http://wpri.com/2016/05/16/gardening-...
