Nice fantasy, told from the point of view of a preteen elf (even the writing skills are on that level!), who discovers her world together with the reader. No bad words, no bad people (not even the spiders!), and everyone wants to b" Read more of this review » |

“In an interview later with Shadow and his son Spike, Shadow revealed to me that he had growled 'I’m not allowed to eat you today, but if you don’t rub my tummy now, I might pee on you.”

“I must not dance.
Dance makes you happy.
Dance is the little joy that brings total exhilaration
I will deafen my ears to the music
I will permit the beat to pass over me and through me
My butt will not shake, nor will my hips twitch
And when the beat has gone past, I will tell myself
But I don’t feel like dancing. There’ll be no dancing today”

“No, I won't get mad about this. So many times in life, I have found that you have to choose between either getting angry, or getting what you want. I generally choose getting what I want, and we have a prosperous kingdom to show for it.”

“For the general orcs, the human food wasn’t spicy enough – they just found it very bland. That difference in tastes is the main reason that humans don’t get invited to orc potluck dinners very often.
And goblins don’t like human food at all. The problem was that it contains absolutely no rodent or insects, at least as far as the humans would admit. So it just doesn’t sit right with the goblins.
I could eat it though, if I were hungry enough. Even human food was better than what they served at the university dorms.”
