It's all based around the real folklore of the Isle of Mull, about a Spanish Galleon that sank in the harbour of Tobermory Bay. I love books that have a strong woman up front and centre, and this is the best example of that from the last century for me. It also manages to keep humour within adversity, and find beauty in sadness. Garmus is a genius.
