Ramesh was a voracious reader from his middle school years. When some of his naughty peers called him a bookworm, he called them earthworms. He used to walk to a public library every evening after school, check out a couple of books, typically one fiction and one nonfiction, then read them at home in a couple of days, return them to the library and check some other two books out. He narrated the stories he read to boys and girls of the neighborhood every night. They loved him for that and he enjoyed being called a good storyteller. He maintained this routine for years until he graduated from high school at the age of fifteen.
