Tzeyi Koay (🔊 Zee-Kway) is a Chinese-Malaysian, Australian-based lawyer turned fantasy writer. She grew up in a kampung—a small Malaysian village—surrounded by the stories and traditions that would later inspire her work. Her stories draw on Chinese culture and mythology, as well as by her family’s practice of Chinese folk religion.

Her debut romantasy novel, A Curse Carved in Ink, will be published in January 2027 by Simon & Schuster UK and Atria Books Australia. Since acquisition, global excitement has led to auctions in several territories, with rights sold into Germany (Heyne), Italy (Newton Compton), Spain (Minotauro/Planeta) Hungary (General Press/Lira) and Poland (Uroboros/Foksal).
