This was so funny I think it's give me OCD, and to picture the scene of a tampon as a candle on a b/day cake causing a hot scene in a pub was just class.
I'm not sure what frustrated me most the constant capers of Barry's panic attacks just at the wrong time or the winning, losing and tracking down the lottery ticket.
But what a twist there was with that I was not expecting it but ingenious writing.

With each heartbreaking turn I'd ask myself how can these two be so oblivious to the real world. The characters are truly realistic and scream for sympathy. Book was a fantastic read from Derek Hudson. Hudsonis fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Yes ! 5 stars out of 5 for "Dysfunctional Romance" Do not miss out on the Sandra and Barry story. I finished the entire book in less than two days. One of my favorite characters, Detective Jim Bannon, an asthmatic, is in love with his boss's daughter. The gruff character of the boss is not excited about that at all. Detective Bannon spends most of his time trying to track down London's serial killer who is deep into asphyxiaphillia, a dangerous game that ends in murder. It appears he is getting his victims through a dating service.
This thriller has twists and turns along the way, a bit of dark humor, along with some tragedy in the Detective's personal life. There is some erotica mingled in the storyline at one point.
I can't say enough for the authors development of the characters. They are quite entertaining to the reader even though people are dying. There are things going on behind the scenes only the readers know for a while which is always intriguing. I will certainly continue reading Hudson's work and I highly recommend this book.

Fetishes might not appeal to every reader but I urge you to look beyond that and read what is a fantastically written crime novel with a sense of humour thrown in. Hudsonhas the power to make you laugh and cringe in disgust all in one page. I think Jim Bannon could be the character in lots more of Hudson's books to come.
Intense, dark, decadent, terrifying, witty, gripping, shocking and so the list goes on.
You will not regret purchasing any of Derick Hudson's books. Can't wait for his next one, Infallible...

Lots of authors are formulaic and you know what's going to happen before it does (Dan Brown), but this author has a way of story telling and making each book fresh and even though the subject matter on sexual fetishes may not immediately appeal to some readers, I implore you to read if you want a good giggle! Hudsonappears to be able to take sensitive subject matters and make them funny.
I loved the relationship of amateur sleuths Sam Greer and Damien Hand, they had me laughing out loud and the way that Hudson can write in a female voice is exceptional and I really want a "Hands off the merchandise" banner.
Well done Mr Hudson, can't wait for Infallible and I have a slight smugness in that I can say, I've followed this author since the beginning and not just jumped on the band wagon.
If you love Irish wit and a good story, get your library stocked with asphyxia (and the back catalogue too)

I started reading before work and was hooked from page one. I found myself trying to sneak read on tea breaks and lunch time and I couldn't wait to get home.

What drew me in was the humour in the beginning but as more and more characters where introduced and the plot thickened, (and I do mean thickened!) I found myself flying through the pages.

The only problem I found was that I wanted more! There are certain scenes that could be expanded on and character relationships that could be delved into more deeply but overall the book is set at the perfect pace, with more twists and turns than a country road! I didn't see the ending coming at all.

I do need to mention the gore. To me the murder scenes were described perfectly. There was so much detail. The entire horror scene was laid out before my eyes, from the physical descriptions to how the characters felt and the thoughts of the unhinged villain were bone chilling. (see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil)

I laughed out loud, I cringed, I even said "Oh My God" at one point but overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading Infallible and definitely recommend reading it to anyone who is not of the faint of heart.

From the start, this book just dive bombed into me.
Everything just goes on and happens all at once. I didn't have chance to breathe. Before you can grasp the whole picture, it jut assaults you with more. There's a bit of non-rude sexiness with a Nun. Yeh I know. That's what I said. There's blood, violence and damn right evilness. Which goes hand in hand with a book about religious matters:)
The characters are plain mental. And you could believe that this stuff actually goes on in real life. (Well, that's a whole other story)
So. This is my second book from Mr H. And I'm not disappointed. It has eveything i want in a story. Saucy Nuns is a bonus.
And for certain I will buy the rest of his books for sure.

For thirty days, Jesus must live amongst the human race as one of their own, adopting their ways, savage and all as that may be. By doing this he will learn to appreciate his subjects true motivations and so develop more appropriate Commandments. His only ammunition on earth during his brief stay is an allowance of three miracles. As instructed by his dad, God the Father, Jesus must communicate the Commandments to the people through a diary, which he will leave behind as the new Bible. It is this diary that forms the basis for Unholy Romance!
Above all else, this is a tale of an unlikely and ultimately passionate romance between Jesus Christ and Megan Milligan, a feisty, Irish phone sex operator and devoted atheist, as they struggle to come to terms with an unplanned pregnancy!

Commandment number two had to be my favorite. Bring on the yummy chocolates LOL! So if your not easily offended READ THIS BOOK!!! And if you are a Christian that is still easily offended you still NEED to read this book and see that some of use don't care about your so called rules.

Very funny - a book you will not want to put down!
I stumbled upon Hudson's books after reading Dysfunctional Romance - and they only seem to be getting better!

Jusus comes back to earth to save his fathers dwindling name and enters each happening in the form of a diary and re writes the ten commandments. His day to day dalies are so funny and each of us can relate to everything he comes accross. I Dont want to spoil the book so buy it and read it for yourselves you wont regret it.
Love these books and Derick Hudson is fast becoming my favourite author..keep them coming Derick..

I've gained a new appreciation for the Irish wit, and it was appreciated even before this reading. I'm not much of an imbiber, but reading this made me want find a pub and try some of the lukewarm, dark, heavy stuff. Jesus and his take on modern society and his relationship with the lovely Megan are very well written and Side splittingly funny but I could imagine if you were of a religious disposition you could possibly find this book a tad offensive.

I have to say that this was an extremely entertaining book to read, and the perfect sequel. I have grown to love Barry and Sandra but love Eamonn and Robbie even more!! Those twins are absolutely hilarious, and wacky just like their parents!! As with all of the books I've read by Derick Hudson, this story line was exceptional and very fun to read. I found myself laughing out loud A LOT…my neighbors in my building must think I’m a real nut job. I especially got a kick out of Barry's, and his intervention and his crazy weekend with the twins, but don’t want to give anything away on that. If you’re considering reading this book, do yourself the favor of reading it! You won’t be sorry you did!!

This was so funny I think it's give me OCD, and to picture the scene of a tampon as a candle on a b/day cake causing a hot scene in a pub was just class.
I'm not sure what frustrated me most the constant capers of Barry's panic attacks just at the wrong time or the winning, losing and tracking down the lottery ticket.
But what a twist there was with that I was not expecting it but ingenious writing.
