Liberal Socialism

I recently began a C4SS study on all the issues around liberal socialism, with the primary purpose of countering all the anarchists and other socialists for whom "liberal" -- in the sense of favoring an institutional structure and set of rules that promote regularity, predictability, stability of rights, procedural guarantees, etc., not "liberal" in the American political context -- is a swear word. In particular, I'm interested in things like the Partner State, predistribution through institutional design, and other models that function in a comparatively automatic way with a minimum of "policy" and other ongoing intervention. I'm starting out with a reread of Rawls and Nozick.

Some time ago I submitted the second part of a two-part study on money and credit to C4SS. Both parts are pretty long, and it takes some time for things to work through the editing backlog (our editing and formatting work is by nominally paid volunteers who have day jobs). But when they're published, I hope to follow up by combining them into a book. Everyone in the relevant tiers will receive a copy, of course!
