Blake Gunnels is a landscape architect by trade and a storyteller at heart. His debut novel, By the Light of the Bluff, is a richly atmospheric work of Southern historical fiction set on Saint Simons Island, Georgia—a place his family has cherished for more than 20 years. The book was honored with a 2025 International Firebird Book Award for Southern Fiction, recognizing its evocative sense of place and emotional depth.
