Howdy,

My name is Canyon Hohenstein. I was born and raised in Montana and worked as a wildland firefighter for seven seasons. The highlight of my career was working with the 20-man prison crew—17 prisoners and three prison guards from the state prison who were under my command as we battled a wildfire.

I decided to end my wildland firefighting career before it ended me. Now, I am pursuing my career as a writer. The first story I wanted to tell was this one: A tale of incarcerated men and their insecure leader seeking redemption amongst the scorching flames. This tale will be published on July 6th, 2025.

Thanks for joining me on this journey.
