“[....] "traditionalists" often end up incorporating collonialist understandings of other cultures and religions into their analyses. For example, the understanding of Hinduisim one gets from traditionalist writings draws in large part from the late 19th early 20th century European romanticization of Hinduism. Traditionalists are too often just as much a product of the intellectual environments in which they have learned and been trained. The very choice of what is "essential" and what is "accidental" is often conditioned by this intellectual heritage.
