Spaceflight: Past, Present, and Future
Hello, my name is Michael Gorn and I'm an aerospace author and historian who just recently began an authors page on Goodreads.
My aim is to encourage those in the Goodreads community to participate in discussions about the history--and the present and future--of space exploitation and exploration.
If you haven't seen it yet, my latest book--Spacecraft: 100 Iconic Rockets, Shuttles, and Satellites That Put Us in Space by the Quarto Publishing Group, London--is available for pre-publication sale on Amazon. I'd really value your assessment of it. It features historical profiles of these icons of the space age, illustrated with over 300 original (and, if I may say so, brilliant) artworks by my co-author, Giuseppe de Chiara of Naples, Italy.
Please write and let me know about your favorite books in air and space history. One of mine is Engineer in Charge: A History of the Langley Aeronautical Laboratory, 1917-1958 by James R. Hansen. It covers the fascinating story of the origins and accomplishments of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, the direct predecessor of NASA. Another of my favorites is First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, Hansen's brilliant biography of the complex man who first stepped foot on the Moon.
Until next time,
Michael
