Jay S. Scott began writing his first book Ascension in 2017, scribbling the first 90 pages after being laid off from work—a period that sparked a quiet conviction: maybe he could actually write a novel. That early burst of inspiration stalled when the realities of how involved writing a book actually was, sank in. The manuscript was shelved, and in 2022, he returned with renewed purpose, devouring every writing lecture or video he could find—from Jerry B. Jenkins, to self-published veterans—determined to sharpen his skill and finish what he started. By 2025, he had built a foundation strong enough to carry the story to its finale.
