Hi! I’m Louise.

I am the author of Falling into Place and Undies in a Bunch. I live in New York with my husband and sweet, tuxedo/panther boys. I am always writing. I write mostly about life as it happens to me. Sometimes life happening to me gets in the way of my writing, but my wheels never stop turning. I am always inspired and determined. I need an outlet for my restless thoughts so that I don’t drive my husband insane. My blog is my outlet.

My mom was very strict so I wasn’t allowed to use the phone, but I always did things I wasn’t supposed to do when my mother wasn’t home. Somehow this stranger always caught me when my mother wasn’t there. Maybe he did call when my mom was home, but hung up once she answered.

The man always asked what I was wearing, and who knows why I didn’t slam the phone back on the receiver? I never answered the question, but the caller would keep talking and I kept listening to his ramblings, so he continued to call our house. I just figured the person calling had dialed the wrong number and that reason he always called again was because he had an audience.

By the time I was 20 I’d moved out of my mom’s place and I’d long forgotten about those strange phone calls. But one night the phone rang at some crazy hour waking me from my sleep. When I answered the phone, the person on the other end of the line was breathing extremely heavy and when he spoke, it became very clear to me that I had actually known the strange caller all along. I did slam the phone down the way I should have years before and I never spoke to that person again.

If I were writing a mystery based on that experience, I wouldn’t make it so easy for the character to identify or evade the person who was calling her and I would involve various cases of stalking / harassment that increased in intensity as the story continued. (less)

I am currently suffering from a severe case of writer’s block and it’s tough to continue writing when I’m not in the mood. Following his advice has proven to be very helpful. A note, a sentence or a paragraph are all progress because eventually I will always return to those ideas to extend them or move them into the story they are supposed to be a part of. (less)

There are many times when I move too fast when I'm cooking. I sometimes take the fact that I can cook for granted and instead of paying attention to the instructions of a recipe, I'll sometimes quickly skim over the directions thinking, 'Got it, I know what to do...'
Once while preparing the batter for a cheesecake, I did just that not realizing until I got to a certain paragraph that I was Read more of this blog post »
