My love affair with Fantasy began as an eleven year old when I first opened The Hobbit. That single book ignited a passion that has burned bright for decades, leading me through the rich world of Middle Earth and beyond into the vast landscape of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

Over the years, I’ve been captivated by the heroic tales of David Gemmell, particularly anything featuring the legendary Druss the Axeman, the epic world-building of Raymond E. Feist’s Magician series, and the creative brilliance of Piers Anthony’s Incarnations of Immortality and Apprentice Adept series. In my teens, I developed a love for Science Fiction after discovering authors like Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, and Frank Herbert. These authors didn’t just entertain me; they showed me the incredible range and power of fantasy and Sci-Fi literature.

My Journey so far!

That transformative experience with The Hobbit planted a seed that eventually grew into my writing. I wanted to pay forward the gift that Tolkien gave me, so I wrote The Dreamers, a fantasy novel aimed at readers the same age I was when I first discovered Middle-earth. I hope that somewhere, an eleven-year-old will pick up my book and feel that same spark of wonder and possibility that changed my life.

For nearly thirty years, I’ve been crafting what I hope will be my magnum opus, Quest for a King. This novel has been my constant companion, growing and evolving as I’ve picked it up and added to it through different seasons of life. I finally decided to stop procrastinating and give this story the dedicated ending it deserves.

Quest for a King blends the heroic tradition that made Gemmell’s work so compelling with Tolkien’s gift for deep, memorable characters and world-building, seasoned with a touch of Anthony’s creative unpredictability. It’s a book that honours the fantasy traditions I love while bringing my voice to the genre.

I’m hoping that Quest for a King will be ready for readers by Christmas 2025, so it can be my gift to fantasy lovers everywhere, and the culmination of a journey that began with a young reader discovering the magic of Middle-earth.

I also have a Sci-Fi novella series in the works, although I have not had these bouncing around my head for as long as Quest for a King. I am aiming for a story arc that is as well-built and as compelling as my Fantasy work. ...more
