Dr Nigel Fletcher is a political historian and the co-founder of the Centre for Opposition Studies. He is the Ken Young Memorial Research Fellow at the Mile End Institute and a visiting fellow at King's College London, where he taught politics and contemporary history for seven years.

Born in Portsmouth, he graduated from Queen Mary, University of London, winning the Professor Lord Smith Prize for his final dissertation. He then worked in politics for many years, as a researcher in parliament and at the London Assembly, and as a Special Adviser to the Shadow Cabinet between 2004 and 2008, working for senior politicians including David Cameron and Boris Johnson.
