My Current Top 3 Anticipated Books

One of the joys of being a reader is knowing there's always going to be another book to buy. One of the not so joyful things about being a reader is the torturous wait for your favorite authors'next books to be released. Here are my current TOP 3 most anticipated reads in no particular order.

The Stranger – By Harlan Coben

Coben has often been called the modern-day master of the hook and twist, and I won’t argue with anyone about this. His books are always rapid-fire page turners that keep...

Terry Pratchett Quotes to Live By

Terry Pratchett spent most of his life creating worlds and characters that fascinated readers with their fantastical qualities, and made them laugh at the same time. Yesterday, his readership and the rest of the literary world had to say goodbye to their friend, as Mr. Pratchett sadly passed away at the too-young age of 66.

In addition to leaving behind thousands of pages and millions of fans, Terry Pratchett also left behind some pretty great personal quotes that showjust how intelligent th...

The Scariest Story I've Written

Fear, just like taste in books, is completely subjective. I run over snakes with a lawnmower, yet some people keep them as pets. You get my point?

That said, I've spent the last month or so working on a new short story that I personally have no doubt is the scariest, and most disturbing work I've written. Seriously. There's one scene in particular that gives me chills to think about. When I close my eyes and imagine the events unfolding, I always squirm a bit.

You might read it and think it's h...

Teaser - The Bad Thing Comes at Night

I did a Google Hangout tonight where I read just a brief snippet of the story I'm working on. It's called The Bad Thing Comes at Night.

Do you know what's wrong with the Dawsons?

Art. Inspiration. And Why Authors are F'ed Up in the Head.

For those of you who couldn't watch the Google Hangout I did with my friend and cover artist, Photographer Jason Collins, here's the video of our chat. We talk about art, inspiration, criticism. and why artists are usually F'ed up in the head. Enjoy.

Here's the link to Jason's site. If you're in the Roanoke, Va area and need some family photos, you won't find a better guy.

Two Great Authors - Two Great Series

I've been a fan of both Blake Crouch and Marcus Sakey for years. (Blake's story of success is one of the more motivational bullet-points in my reasons I got into publishing my work) I've enjoyed numerous novels from both these guys, and always take a peek at their latest offerings. But I have to say, they've both knocked the ball out of the park with what they've been working on lately.

Blake has finished up his Wayward Pines Series (the 3rd and final book was near the top of my most anticipat...

Kindle Unlimited, Here I come!

Transient

Last week, Amazon announced its new eBooks subscription program called "Kindle Unlimited" -- a Netflix for books... sort of.

For the price of $9.99 a month (with a FREE 1-month trial) Unlimited subscribers gain access to an "unlimited" number of eBooks to read each month. This is a much better deal than the 1 book a month check-out program existing Amazon Prime members are used to.

And there's more! Audiobooks are included too! That's right, if a Kindle Unlimited enrolled book has a qualifie...

Today I'm very excited to announce my newest novel, TRANSIT, which I'll be doing something a little different with...

TRANSIT is going to be released as a serialized novel. What's that mean? It means that I intentionally wrote the book in four separate chunks. Think of them as episodes, like your favorite TV drama (How awesome was the end ofBreaking Bad?). In doing this, I was able to keep the pace ratcheted up, and also leave each episode ending with a "Well now I've got to know...
