Book Blitz: Under A Prairie Moon

It's a Five-Day Book Blitz for Under a Prairie Moon! Download your FREE book today
~~One night, under a prairie moon~~
Poor uninspired, unfulfilled Andrea Jameson; photographer extraordinaire. Where was her dreary life taking her?  The last place she'd ever imagined! A motel room with her
ex-boyfriend's younger brother. She had to escape without a scene. So she slipped out with only the memories of one incredible night. Or so she thought...
~~One night is never enough~~
Nebraska rancher Jason McCoy made a miracle happen last night.  He made beautiful, vivacious, talented Andy his after twelve years of loving her.  But all his dreams came crashing down when he woke to an empty room.  She was gone forever.  Or so he thought…
How were they to know their journey had just begun?
[image error] Download your FREE book today! UNDER A PRAIRIE MOON BOOK EXCERPTSunlight.  It was only sunlight.  Bright, infuriating, painful sunlight burning her retinas.
Andy would’ve screamed at the pain splitting her skull in half if she had any saliva in her mouth.  She couldn’t swallow, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t blink without it hurting.  Her entire body felt heavy and abused.

Was she dying?  She actually hoped she was.  Even her groan of agony was too much.

She kept her eyelids clamped together, afraid of what she would see if she dared to open them again.

What the hell had happened to her?

She tried to summon memories from the night before but it was like sucking Jell-O through a straw.

Water.  She needed water.  If the horrid taste and cotton-mouth were gone, she could force her brain to function.
Maybe.

She hesitated, bracing for the pain.  Well, she couldn’t just lie here suffering.  She parted her eyelids a fraction, wincing and scowling at the splintering in her head.  She blinked, trying to focus.

Wool drapes.  Not her drapes.

She squinted in confusion.  Hotel drapes.  I'm in a hotel.  Silently cursing all alcohol to perdition, she raised a leaden arm to rub her forehead.
Hung over.

She’d rather be dying.

Sucking in a ragged breath she reached with her other hand to remove the sheet from - her naked body?  She flinched as she fully opened her eyes.  What was she doing sleeping in the buff?  She never slept naked.  Not with the possibility of a fire or a burglar.

Andy’s stomach churned.  The sense of dread hovered at the edges of her sluggish mind.  She tugged harder on the sheet, irritated with its determination to stay put.
With a huff she looked down to investigate.

Shock and mortification paralyzed her when her gaze encountered the problem.  Good God.  She closed her eyes tight, wishing it to be a hallucination from the drinking.

Andy gathered her courage and opened her eyes to the very tan, muscular arm lying across her rib cage.  Her stomach clenched and her impossibly dry mouth became an arid desert.  Panic spread like wildfire.  She had never in her life done this.  She had never brought home a random man.

Okay Andy.  Get a grip here.  She took several steadying breaths before easing the heavy arm away from her.  She scooted gingerly to the edge of the bed and rolled to a crouching position on the floor.

She listened for movement, a change in the man’s breathing, anything to indicate she had woken him.  Nothing.  She braved a peek.  The covers rose and fell in steady rhythm and Andy breathed a sigh of relief.  She rose further, biting her lip, trying to stay quiet.  She took one step back, her foot tangled in fabric threatening to trip her up.

She whipped her gaze to the bed and nearly dropped back to the floor.  Her mouth gaped open and her eyes widened.  Like a tidal wave, a fresh surge of embarrassment washed over her as the night came crashing into her brain.

“Oh sweet Jesus,” she whispered to herself.  She had done the unthinkable.  Her cold hands trembled.  Why oh why had she gotten so drunk last night?  She felt like the biggest idiot to ever cross the earth.

Frantically searching the room, she located her scattered clothes and suitcase by the table.  Get out.  She had to get out.

She tip-toed into the darkened bathroom, grabbing her clothes.  The door creaked.  Her heart stopped.  Her breath stopped.  Her jaw tightened.  She couldn’t turn around, frozen in stunned panic.  Nothing.

With her eye trained in the crack of the door, Andy pulled on her clothes and whipped her hair back into a pony tail.  She gently pulled the door open - quicker through the creak- never looking away from the sleeping man.  She crept to her suitcase and stuffed her things inside.

She went to the door and slid the chain.  She rested her hand on the knob, looked back at the bed and hesitated.

Andy slid her fingers across her swollen and chapped lips, remembering.  With an impulsive smile she eyed his peaceful body half-covered by the white sheet.
Her pulse quickened at the sight of his broad chest sprinkled with dark hair.  Her entire being tingled with the memory of rough facial hair grazing delightfully against her heated skin.  And those firm lips like velvet tugging at her flesh.

Andy closed her eyes in regret and remorse.  Impossible.  This was impossible.  She squeezed the door knob and twisted.

One more look, just one more.  She knew this was the last time she would see him.  Disappointment saturated her, down to her very core.

Damn it all.

She was actually thinking about staying in this room, about waking him with a kiss.
Andy opened the heavy door only far enough to squeeze herself and her luggage through, then closed it with the same caution.  She hurried down the hallway, glancing back, so nervous she would be caught.  Her stomach twisted into knots and her sweaty palms slipped on her suitcase handle as she raced to the safety of the parking lot.  She had to choke back the tears to find her car.

How was she going to come to grips with this?  How was she going to live with the fact she had slept with her ex-boyfriends little brother?Online website templates

[image error]   Download your FREE book today! GALLAGHER'S PRIDE BOOK EXCERPTSExcerpt One It seemed almost impossible that Brenna was standing in the middle of a dusty street on a brisk autumn morning thousands of miles from everything she had ever known and treasured. Almost impossible, but not quite for there she was in the town of Briarwood in Montana Territory. It had been an arduous journey at best. The seemingly never ending crossing of the Atlantic, the miles of train tracks, the stink of unwashed people the farther from civilization she got, and the rattling stage ride. But this is where her grandfather lived. Or so the telegrams she received months past had indicated. It had not taken long to discover the whereabouts of Nathan Hunter. Once Brenna had arrived on Boston’s soil, a place so foreign to the country existence she loved, she had sent telegrams to the postmarked address in Texas from where Nathan Hunter’s last letter was sent. A reply arrived less than two days later informing her that Nathan Hunter had left Texas. He had moved to the Montana Territory some years back. A dozen more telegrams and the services of a costly private detective later, and she had found him. If Brenna’s mind had not been filled with questions and worries, perhaps she would have better appreciated the grandeur of the place she now stood. Mountains the likes of which she had never seen jutted upward from the earth. So different from home, for those in Scotland were mere hills compared to the towering peaks surrounding the valley, which seemed to stretch farther than she could see. The fresh pine scented air reminded her of the long walks she used to take with her father back home, when she would pick bundles of heather for her mother. Blue skies so vast there was no end to the journey an eagle could take. Wildness and beauty unlike anything she’d ever imagined surrounded her.

Review: The Wanting Heart

Katherine White, a barrel racer from Colorado, lives in a fast-paced world where rhinestones shine, hooves pound, and dreams come true. She plans on winning World Champion Barrel Racer and being with her friends until she graduates from college. She doesn’t plan on the man who broke her heart strolling back into her life. She doesn’t plan on finding solace in a charming stranger’s smile or falling victim to his knife.
Blake Spencer, the man who broke her heart, is all cowboy—from the hat on his head to the dust on his boots. He thought it’d be easy, coming back to town, bowing his head a little, saying he was sorry, and all would be forgiven. But what he didn’t know, what he didn’t plan on, was that the girl he thought he loved had become the woman he couldn’t have. If he doesn’t succeed in changing her mind, it won’t only cost him Kate’s love—it will cost Kateher life. Will Kate survive the stalking of a serial killer and find what her heart truly wants?
My Thoughts: I don’t suppose anyone could pick out a book I would be more apt to like than The Wanting Heart. I mean, come on. Hot cowboys, rodeos, a steamy unrequited romance all with a scary psycho serial killer lurking in the background. Recipe for amazing. And this book was really good. Morgan has a real talent for painting the scenes so the reader really feels like she’s there, in the Colorado cow country or down in the bucking chutes with the wild and powerful broncos. She really helped invoke emotion and made you feel the fear and paranoia of being stalked by a sadistic murderer. Not only that, but the characters were genuine and the relationships between them were heartfelt and sincere. If you’re looking for the complex plot roll-out like an M. Night Shamalan movie, you’re going to be disappointed. Pretty much from the first you know who the two main characters are, that they are both fighting the effects of unrequited love and not soon after do we meet our creepy, out of place villain with an immediate sense of foreboding that has the reader screeching “Don’t do it, girl!” But it’s a really nicely written romantic suspense with enough heat between the main characters to keep it interesting but not so much that you’ll be getting hot and bothered either. Coming from a western background, I enjoyed the colorful and spot on descriptions of the lifestyle and the rodeo circuit.  They are good enough to help even the biggest city slicker picture themselves in the arena. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who enjoys some mystery with a dash of love in the mix.

Excerpt: “It’s late, Blake. I’m tired.” Kate said.“Not too tired to be kissing that city feller.” Blake could’ve kicked himself. Hewanted to talk to her not fight.“That’s none of your business. You have no right to be spying on me.”“I wasn’t spying. I was watching Cathy.”Kate stepped into the full light. “Well, you should have taken her home and been onyour way!”Seeing dark circles beneath Kate’s eyes, Blake studied her. He saw sadness andfatigue. “Jesus, Kate. Did you drive home last night? Have you even been home?”“What do you care?”Blake grabbed her arms. “Are you trying to kill yourself?”“No. I’m living my life.”“I’ll tell you what you’re doing. You’re going home and going to bed.”“Don’t use that range boss voice on me. You have no right.”Blake couldn’t listen to another word. Holding her body, even in anger, was toomuch for him. Her words were crushed against her mouth as his lips covered hers. Helifted her off her feet, molding her body to his. She’d been nineteen the last time he kissedher. Her body had grown and filled out since then. But, he wasn’t thinking of that. Hewasn’t thinking of anything, but how damn good it felt to just hold her, kiss her. Beggingfor her surrender, he stroked his hands over her hips, up her back and fisted them in herhair.

Highlander Giveaway Hop

This hop is in celebration of all things Highlander! My contributions are the first two books of one of my absolute favorite Highlander series by one of my all-time favorite authors, Karen Marie Moning! Good Luck and enjoy!

He would sell his warrior soul to possess her. . . .

An alluring laird...

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart—until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland. Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the sixteenth-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm's length—but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A prisoner in time...

She had a perfect "no" on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite within her. Not even the barriers of time and space would keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about following the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne's reservations were no match for Hawk's determination to keep her by his side. . . .

Only her love could gentle his savage soul—

He was born to a clan of warriors of supernatural strength, but Gavrael McIllioch abandoned his name and his Highland castle, determined to escape the dark fate of his ancestors. Hiding his identity from the relentless rival clan that hunted him, he called himself Grimm to protect the people he cared for, vowing never to acknowledge his love for ravishing Jillian St. Clair. Yet even from afar he watched over her, and when her father sent an urgent summons, "Come for Jillian," he raced to her side—into a competition to win her hand in marriage.

Why had he run from her so many years before? And why return now to see her offered as a prize in her father's manipulative game? Furious, Jillian vowed never to wed. But Grimm was the man she loved, the one who urged her to marry another. He tried to pretend indifference as she tempted him, but he could not deny the fierce desires that compelled him to abduct her from the altar. She was the only woman who could tame the beast that raged within him—even as deadly enemies plotted to destroy them both....

Once Upon A Midnight Dreary is a collection of spooky, scary, creepy and suspenseful stories in celebration of Halloween. Check out the covers and blurbs of each story!

Vicis is the short story I've written. It's a break from my usual genre, instead I did a Sci-fi. I hope you enjoy!

When she's slated to be euthanized, no longer considered a valuable asset for the company, she takes her life into her own hands. Carnival of Darkness - Stephanie Nelson Andee Baker met the man of her dreams and then made a complete fool out of herself. She thought she would never see him again until her best friend, Claire, got an invitation for both of them to attend the Carnival of Darkness from the guy Andee couldn’t stop thinking about. They jump at the opportunity to go, but even before Andee crosses the entrance, she realizes there's something peculiar about the carnival. The ticket master's red eyes and the waltzing ghost are anything but cheesy special effects. Andee discovers at the Carnival of Darkness not everything is as it seems. You can find Stephanie on Facebook HERE
Machado - Lola JamesA weekend of fun, romance, and ghost stories at abeautiful beachside hotel was the plan. But Mackenzie had a bad feeling about the trip since the moment her husband and friends brought it up. The Machado Inn was a place where legends came to life and the past roamed the hallways. Guests came to stay the night, but few made it out alive. You can find Lola on Facebook HERE
The Visitor - Liz SchulteReverend Black hated storms. Rumbles from the Heavens promised violence and retribution this night, but he could only watch as the blackness descended. The tempest did not come alone. A visitor walked before it—patient and silent. You can find Liz on Facebook HERE

Miss Stake - C.G. PowellAlligators, snakes, and old boyfriends...Oh my. The swamp is a dangerous place, but it’s nothing Veronica can’t handle. Tame A Wild Bride Blitz

Rosie Stanton climbed on a west-bound train to answer his ad for a wife and mother, everything she wants to be.  But Tom Harris lied.  He doesn’t want a wife, merely a mother for his two abandoned children and a cook and cleaner for his ranch. Betrayed once, he’s vowed never to let another woman into his heart.  Sexy Rosie upsets all his plans and threatens to invade his scarred heart.  How will he maintain his vow to keep his hands off her as she charms his children, his cow hands, his life?
You can get it here:Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/Bride-western-romance-Series-ebook/dp/B008QNVC14/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344622476&sr=8-1&keywords=tame+a+wild+bride

Excerpt:
Rosemary Stanton stood on the train platform sweating and waiting.  Sweating because it was an especially hot day in late June.  Waiting for her husband.  A husband she wouldn’t recognize if he were standing right next to her. She’d been desperate when she answered the advertisement for a mail order bride.  Wanted: Single woman to cook, clean, and care for children on a cattle ranch in southwestern Colorado.  Will marry upon arrival.Well, she was twenty-six with no prospects.  Her brother just got married and his new wife, Beatrice, didn’t want Rosie around.  She could answer this advertisement or become a governess.  Help someone else’s children grow up into adults.  Live in someone else’s house.  For the rest of her life, she’d have nothing she could call her own.Rosie wanted a home.  She wanted a husband and children.  All the things she’d never have if she stayed in Philadelphia.  When she’d seen the ad in the morning paper, she’d nearly shouted with glee.  However, she managed to restrain herself until she got to her room before she yelled with joy.  The advertisement was tailor-made for her needs.  It got her away from Beatrice and got her her own home all in one fell swoop. Her brother, Robert, though was not happy with the idea of his baby sister traveling across the country to marry a stranger.  He grudgingly agreed to give her her dowry to take with her.  Five thousand dollars.  She’d take the draft to the bank as soon as she arrived in Creede, Colorado, and married Mr. Thomas Harris.  Cattle rancher.  It was her “in case it doesn’t work out” money.  Though she supposed it would belong to her husband once she married.  Perhaps she just wouldn’t tell him about it.  Her conscience spoke up.  That’s no way to start a marriage.  With lies and secrets. Oh, all right.  She’d tell him and have him take her to the bank.  But not until after she’d taken his measure.  If he was a cruel man, she would leave and she sure as heck wouldn’t tell him about her money.Even with the dowry, there’d been few prospects for Rosie back in Philadelphia.  She wasn’t pretty in the conventional sense.  She thought her face with its big brown eyes and full lips was pleasing enough, but men apparently hadn’t.  Her one beau had said her eyes were the color of warm brandy.  That was before he left her to marry another more suitable woman.  More suitable, hah!  Richer was more like it.Paul had expensive tastes and married a rabbit-faced girl, heir to a substantial fortune to which he’d have access.  Well, good luck and good riddance.Rosie did have one feature she’d been told was extraordinary.  Her hair.  It was waist length, wavy and a clear, golden blonde.  Right now, standing on the train platform in Creede it was bound up in a loose bun on top of her head under her hat.  It, like the rest of her, was covered in dust and soot from the train.  She’d discovered on the second day that she could minimize the grime by sitting in the front of the car with the window closed.  But sooner or later the heat and mugginess of the car would force her to open the window.  The air came rushing in, cooling her, but bringing with it the dirt and ash from the train’s boilers. On the long trip, she’d told herself again and again she’d made the right decision.  This was her future.

Author:
Cynthia Woolf was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in the mountains west of Golden.  She spent her early years running wild around the mountain side with her friends. She worked her way through college and went to work full time straight after graduation and there was little time to write.  Then in 1990 she and two friends started a round robin writing a story about pirates.  She found that she missed the writing and kept on with other stories.  In 1992 she joined Colorado Romance Writers and Romance Writers of America.  Unfortunately, the loss of her job demanded the she not renew her memberships and her writing stagnated for many years. In 2001, she saw an ad in the paper for a writers conference being put on by CRW and decided she'd attend.  One of her favorite authors, Catherine Coulter, was the keynote speaker.  Cynthia was lucky enough to have a seat at Ms. Coulter's table at the luncheon and after talking with her, decided she needed to get back to her writing.  She rejoined both CRW and RWA that day and hasn't looked back.

Review--Zane: The McKades of Texas

Zane: The McKades of Texas
Kellan Anderson is in hillbilly hell – or at least that’s what it feels like. After enduring endless accounts of abuse from her now ex-boyfriend, Kellan makes a run for her life and finds herself in cowboy country. Leaving her fancy clothes and expensive lifestyle behind her, she trades in her high heels for cowboy boots and changes her name to Andi Ford. With her painful past threatening to catch up with her, hiding out in this small town seems easy enough – until one blonde hair, blue eyed cowboy steps in the picture.
Zane McKade has sworn off women, determining that they are all liars and cheats – including the new waitress at the local bar. After a rather unpleasant first encounter with the beautiful brunette, Zane’s radar is set to high as he believes this woman is not who she claims to be. When his intimidation methods fail to break through Andi’s barrier he decides to turn on the charm to get her to tell the truth. But Zane’s plan begins to backfire as the more time he spends charming Andi, the more he finds himself breaking his own rules and falling for her.

My Thoughts:
What does one hot cowboy, a girl on the run and a middle-of-nowhere hick town make? A really cute western chick-lit story that is bound to entertain. That’s exactly what this is.
When I first started to read Zane, I was a little worried. The plot is a little tired and a bit predictable. Girl runs from evil ex into the arms of a strong man who falls for her and protects her from said boogie-man. That said, I found myself really enjoying the little touches Lewis uses to take that storyline and make it hers. A few nice western references here and there made me smile, since I myself am a western girl, especially the Ty Murray and Billy Currington name dropping. If anyone is wondering, I’d love to go to one of his after parties too!
What the story was lacking in plot it by far made it up with its characters. They were believable, relatable and I wanted to be friends with them by the end of the book. I particularly enjoyed the sibling rivalry between the two brothers and it helped bring that family to life for me. The romance arc felt natural between the two main protagonists, not the ‘ohmygoshIloveyouandwanttomarryyourightthissecond’ kind of love that’s so typical with the chick-lit books that drives me absolutely nuts. Lewis does a good job of getting the reader on Andi’s side and lusting after Zane and the heat between the two of them is downright sizzling and delicious.
Overall, if you’re looking for a quick and easy summer read with plenty of sexy spice, this is the book for you. I’d definitely recommend it as an intro into the western genre because it has enough of the lifestyle and lingo to place you in that setting without drowning you underneath it if you’re a city-slicker. It’s a well written book and worth the price of admission. The reader won’t be asked to ponder life’s big questions or solve environmental issues, but it’s fun, lighthearted and very entertaining.

Hank Cooper pretended an average bull rider, going from town to town trying to get those elusive eight seconds. But when he and his best friend, Sam, come to the cowboy town of Clovis, California, he meets a woman destined to be his. Hank can’t run away from what he is any longer, but will she?

Tammie Flint is just a girl who wants to have a good time at the rodeo with her best friend--maybe even meet a few cute guys. She didn’t expect to fall in love with a cowboy or to put the lives of everyone she holds dear in danger.
Will any of them survive the Cowboy Moon?
