Although he's written novels and shorts since childhood, he only got into indie publishing on turning forty, when the other choices for a mid-life crisis looked too expensive. Successes in short stories almost translated into becoming a traditionally published novelist in 2010. Instead, he moved into indie publishing with the well-regarded "Fakebook.con". Louise is a police officer at New Scotland Yard and having had an idea related to King Solomon sketched out for a while it seemed a good fit. I extended the squad room, introduced a love interest and off Louise ran investigating mummies that started to appear at iconic London landmarks.(less)

Forget the horror aspect of this book. Instead, focus on what an excellent thriller David wrote. Is it horrific? Yes, in parts. To me, though, this is a fast-paced, character-driven paranormal thriller. We follow Kate, Verne and Beans. We slide back ...more

"CTRL-Z by Iain Benson, is a post-apocalyptic science fiction loaded with elements of horror. It has the fast-paced style and time loop of Run, Lola, Run, and the engaging hero and vicious zombies of I Am Legend. Each day, the main character, Zane, us" Read more of this review »

I’ve read both the previous Simon books. The first was a little weird, being in second person, but even weirder, that particular stylistic choice made sense when I read the third. The third has some lovely little twists I won’t reveal, but they made ...more

I will start by saying I thoroughly enjoyed Worship the Image. I love noir; I love cyberpunk; I love a rollicking adventure.

I got to the end of Mirror’s Brink and uttered the words “You can’t end it there!”

I’ve been eagerly devouring ES Fein’s Mendel’s Ladder series, but now I’ve caught him up and I’ll have to join his other readers, waiting to find out what happens next.
