After completing college and a two year tour of duty in the Army, award winning author Rob Wood followed in the footsteps of his forefathers and spent several decades cowboying in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. Pursuing a calling to dude ranching, producing rodeos and ranch real estate allowed him to fulfill many of his childhood dreams. Rob honed his storytelling skills around campfires of the Rocky Mountain west, and after many years of well-reception, he decided to share his tales with the world.

Rob’s first book of short stories “The 5 Greatest Spankings of All Time” was published in 2012 to critical acclaim. The Texas Association of Authors awarded it First Place Short Story Fiction in their 2012 Literary Competition. In 2014, Rob relea

Unfortunately, the printer/distributor had some last minute issues with the cover stock and had to push the release date back. I am waiting for the new date and will announce it here and elsewhere as soon as I know. It should be very shortly and I'm still trying for Christmas delivery. Wishing you a great holiday season!!!(less)

The Past

Dwelling on bad things that have happened to you in the past is about as productive wearing sunglasses in a cave… it only makes dark memories darker and serves no good purpose. RW

“Memories

Memories are real life experiences distilled over time into a palatable elixir that one can selectively choose to indulge.

Heartbreak and misfortune are most often entombed in cerebral mausoleums. Due to their caustic essence they are prohibitive to access and are accompanied by a lingering bitter aftertaste.

Pleasant recollections may be retrieved at will as if tethered to the end of a string on a reel. They are often seasoned to taste and bursting with flavor and pungent aromas.”

“There is a big difference between being a good person and having good intentions. Having good intentions is a fleeting thought. Being a good person is a full time job. RW”

“Youth is a gift that goes largely unappreciated by its proprietor. Like a single raindrop falling on hot pavement it evaporates before your eyes and transcends into adulthood. The innocence and energy become merely a file in one’s repository of memories… there its value is priceless and nonrenewable.” RW”

“A “good friend” was well…. Like your teeth.
You had a limited number of them to last you an entire lifetime.
You could survive without them, but having them made life much more enjoyable.
If you didn’t take good care of them, you could lose them forever.”

“Adversity and hardship are the building stones of character. How can you appreciate good times and savor happiness if you have never dealt with ill fortune, discomfort and sorrow. It’s like a child learning the difference between hot and cold. RW”
