J.K. Miller II's Blog

January 9, 2013

Hi, my name is…

I’m back! Yes, it has been far far too long since my last post. It’s been so long I forgot my password to get onto wordpress. Thank god for the Remember Me checkbox. There’s been a lot going on. I changed jobs, finished a new book, decided on combining my novella with the new book, so now it’s even BIGGER. Went through a mild depression because after my first book I’m stillnot the best-selling author I expected myself to be. Because it’s all supposed to happen on your first book, right?=]

A lo...

Refresh

Refresh your mind

Because sometimes

It falls behind and stalls.

For tunnel vision blinds us

From things that may define us

Empower our souls to reach our goals.

The dark is darkest before dawn

And it’s only right

How else would we appreciate the light?

Take a moment in times of stress

To shed detest and feeling less

Our minds, then, will fight and not regress

We have only to refresh.

- J. K. Miller II

Excerpt from The Aegis Theory

Enjoy this excerpt from my newest completed work, The Aegis Theory:

“We need those djrin out of the skies. Get those fires out, damnit!”

“Yes sir!”

Dragons rushed to do as he commanded. He almost felt foolish giving the command to douse the fires. With the numbers of djrin around them, those put out would just be replaced by others. The deep thwangs of arrows being released echoed off the mountains. Arrows tangled with fires in the air. The prehistoric cries of dragon and djrin alike sounded as...

Meet The Author – Katie A. Jennings

Good day all! Welcome to our third segment of Meet The Author. We have a treat for you today. I am a personal fan of fantasy, I even write it myself. But today we have best-selling fantasy author Katie Jennings.

I’m excited to be featured by a fellow fantasy book lover! It’s a great genre :)

The best, in my opinion! Before we get into the books, Katie, I always try to give the readers a look into the person behind the pen. Why don’t you tell us a little about yourself.

Okay, I’m going to get a b...

Meet The Author – Mary Ann Bernal

Welcome one and all to another segment of Meet The Author! I am J. K. Miller II and today we have Mary Ann Bernal with us! Welcome, welcome. And for the readers, her first name is Mary Ann; I made that mistake. Mary Ann, it’s a pleasure!

As with all my interviews, I like to introduce the readers to the author a bit first. So, why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?

In addition to being an incurable romantic Anglophile, I am also a staunch supporter of the United States military, having b...

Meet The Author – Sallie Lundy-Frommer

Hello one and all, writers and readers alike. Welcome to Meet The Author! I am J. K. Miller II and today we have the privilege of having Sallie Lundy-Frommer here with us. Do you go by Sallie or would you prefer another name?

Everyone calls me Sallie, except my family. And, I’ll never tell you what they call me. You know how families are with nicknames. They “curse” you for life…lol.

Now, before we get into the book and stuff, why don’t you tell us a little about yourself? Where you’re from, ho...

How Far Can We Go?

So here’s a little exercise to see how creative we writers can be. You will be provided a short passage. After reading it, write out the next paragraph (any genre, just make it fun). Let’s see where we take this. Since we’ll all want to make the next paragraph, how about we say you can only comment once every three paragraphs – meaning count three paragraphs AFTER yours before you comment. Get it? Okay, here we go!

He opened the door to step outside. The sun beamed in the partly cloudy sky, t...

Out Of Hicksville

“Open your hand.”

I hesitated, squeezing my hand tighter as he stared at my closed fist. My heart slammed against my ribs. I couldn’t open my hand; show him what I had. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He wasn’t supposed to find me. Of all the people who could have found me, why him?

The single light bulb swayed from its hanging position as people walked around above. The popcorn on the ceiling looked a moment away from crashing to the hard carpet. Stains from the years of neglect and activity d...
