Standing up to cyber Bullying in the Book World

Today I want to talk about something many authors experience but rarely discuss: targeted cyber bullying through reviews.

Like many writers, I recently discovered a person from my past who went through every book I’ve written — some going back 20 years — and systematically hit them with identical 2-star ratings. No comments, no engagement, just an attempt to hurt me personally.

It stings. Of course it does. Authors put our hearts into our work.

But here’s what I’ve learned:
Reviews say much more about the reviewer than the book.

If this has happened to you, you aren’t alone. Cyber bullying is real, it’s painful, and it needs to be called out as a harmful, cowardly behavior.

I’d love to hear your stories if you’ve faced something similar. Let’s support one another.

Editorial Review

Thank you so much, Sheila Debold, for your fantastic five-star review of Body of Work on Amazon. "Body of Work is a timely, thought-provoking, fast paced read that you can't put down and will keep you up. The plot is one that in today's world reads more like science fact than science fiction. It pulls you into a chaotic world of moral, medical, and ethical dilemmas and the lines they inevitably draw between scientific advancement and innovation versus the preservation of ethical choice and human decency., The characters are richly developed and the battles and choices they face create a frightening and moving experience that will stay with you long after you have turned the last page."

A Big Week for Body Of Work the Thriller #booktok

This week the Publishers Weekly / BookLife review for Body of Work is scheduled to appear — in the Fall “Best Books of the Year” issue. It feels surreal to see the book stepping onto that stage after so many months of quiet work behind the scenes.

At the same time, ARCs (Advanced Review Copies) of Body of Work are about to be sent to libraries — the moment when the book finally leaves the desk and enters real reading rooms, staff rooms, and acquisition desks. It’s the point when possibility begins to turn into readership.

More soon when the review goes live.

Sharing Books

Thank you to everyone who entered the Body of Work giveaway. A gothic medical thriller is a strange thing to share with the world - part love story, part confession, part autopsy of the human condition.
I'm grateful you found it and curious what you will think if it ends up in your hands.
