I grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii, and if I didn't have my face in the water (swimming, playing water polo), most likely I had my nose in a book.

I moved to California to go to college and play more water polo, and now I'm an English teacher, coach, mom, and YA writer.

I love rainstorms, Star Wars, sushi, cooking, and discovering new books to read.

My first YA novel, THE COUNTERFEIT FAMILY TREE OF VEE CRAWFORD-WONG, was recently published by Simon&Schuster. Please give it a read - and maybe even a review!

I have a target word count for every writing day, a…moreI'm not a fan of that word "inspired." It's too easy to be uninspired and play with Legos instead. I have a target word count for every writing day, and I text my hubby when I've reached it. (He's a sales guy - very into incentives and accountability. Very helpful!) I'm getting better at actually writing an outline; knowing what scene(s) I'm working towards helps me move things forward. Though, to be honest, meandering isn't always a bad thing - I often figure out some key things about my characters when I put them in unexpected situations.(less)
