Snow Falls South and in Laramie
I never posted about my accomplishments this summer, which invovled finishing both "Snow Falls South" (during the June edition of Nanowrimo) and its sequel, "The Prince and the Apprentice".
Since then I have been working on revising "Satallites" (the sequel to "Spaceman") and I have arced "The Basin on the Pedestal" (sequel to "The Prince...") and "Visitors", the third novel in the Spaceman series. I have, besides that, been watching plenty of television (Fringe and Revolution have been great so far this season) and working away at schoolwork, including doing advertising for Circle Heifer Development LLC in Garden City, Kansas.
Today I also sent off the first query letter for "Snow Falls South", after having put it through two rounds of revision between a break to mull the story over. It's much shorter than "Spaceman", but I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed writing a story more than I enjoyed SFS. Maybe it was the whirlwind writing process (I completed the first draft in about three weeks) or the fact that I had been wanting to write a fantasy for so long, but whatever it was, it was truly fulfilling.
Where I am now, sitting in a dorm room on the campus of the University of Wyoming, it is snowing. It's been snowing heavily since about 3 this afternoon and we've gotten three or four inches already, and it doesn't look like there's any chance of the snow letting up. I guess that means winter's officially here. Until it leaves, I guess all I can do is find a book and huddle under a blanket.
That doesn't actually sound so bad.
I hope everyone's fall is going smoothly and that the horizon looks bright.

Spaceman: Complete
I have, finally, completely finished Spaceman. There's no more big scene editing to do. Nothing more to tweak in the plot. There are plenty of typogrpahical/grammar errors that I should probably work on fixing, but in terms of actual writing, Spaceman is completed. Sitting at 128,000 words it is the longest novel I have written so far.
So what's next? Agent searching. I am having trouble making myself sit down and write a query letter, but once I can make myself do that, I already have an agent in mind (a first one, with some others being vaguely in mind) and I'll start sending off query letters. We'll see if any of the agents bite and go from there.
It has been quite a journey. When I heard Spaceman by the Killers way back in 2009 and the seed that became this novel was planted, I had no idea what it would like. No idea how much I would work on it, or who the characters would become to me.
In the meantime, I have started writing another novel, this one a work of Fantasy (I hesitate to call it 'epic fantasy' but that's probably where it fits) called (for the moment) Snow Falls South.
I will keep you updated.

Life at the Limits... for free?
Soon- very soon- Life at the Limits will be available for FREE for Amazon Prime members via the Kindle Owners Lending Library. Essentially, this means if you or someone you know is already paying to be a prime member and would like something interesting to read, they can borrow Life at the Limits and read it for no extra cost.
Note: I would not advise (and am not asking) for you to go out an become an Amazon Prime member just to read this book... At that point, you'd be better off buying it for .99 cents at the Kindle Store: http://www.amazon.com/Life-at-the-Limits-ebook/dp/B004M18UQE/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1323449879&sr=1-2
In other news, if there's anyone out there looking for a way to make my Holiday season, I would absolutely love for someone to leave a positive review for Life at the Limits at the above link to the Kindle Store.
More writing from me is in the works, as well, so stay tuned. (And I'll do my very best to keep you informed. (= )

Just an Update
Hello again!
I am still digging through the revision of SPACEMAN (Though getting closer everyday) in anticipation for it's semi-final completion. I will need another round of test reading after the rewriting, but I guess I'll just have to see how that goes when I get there.
(Any takers right off the bat? haha.)
Satallites(the sequel to Spaceman) is on my list after that, as well as Visitors, the sequel to Satallites (Satallites first draft is already written).
In the meantime, if you stumble on this and are wanting for something to read, here is my newest finished piece, "Singing to the Dark". http://creativelycliche.deviantart.co...
It is a short story Science-fiction rendition of Rapunzel. Just something I do for fun.
Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day!

Hello!
Stardate: July 1st, 2011
The first blog entry! There's always something special to starting on a new journey and completing a new project like this one. Life at the Limits, though just a short book of short fiction, was my first step into the world of publishing, and it will not be my last. If you have any questions regarding future publications or my writing (or anything else, if you are so inclined) you can ask me either by email, here, or through one of my other sites.
From here I will keep you updated on everything that has to do with my writing, publications, book signings, and etc.
Thank you, and may the force be with you!
-Josh
