I just start writing random paragraphs, I that I may use later, or not.

Also, I definitely use my time well. When I have moments of inspiration, I start writing in my notebook or on my computer (sometimes just key words and ideas that I can explore later).

I also watch movies about writers and painters. I recently watched a movie about Georgia O'Keeffe after visiting Ghost Ranch during my trip to New Mexico.

It's like watching HGTV for hours and then going out and just "checking out" some paint colors and finding yourself painting the whole room.

Currently, I am working on another selection of short stories related to my travels to and around New Mexico, "In the Heart of the Desert."

I primarily focus on:

~ Unique locations, anywhere from Carlsbad Caverns to Kesha Kutawe Tent Rocks National Monument

~ Unique people, such as when I met the famous guitarist, Esteban

And, of course, I also focus on family. I want to make sure that in the future my own children will learn more about our family, their identities, and their life stories from these literary sketches.

“I believe that each person has a favorite place, a tree, a mountain, or a beach which they want to come back to, even if the return can only take place in the boundaries of their imagination.”
Sana Szewczyk, Under a Ginkgo Tree and Other Stories

“The voice was full of satisfaction with the things we had achieved, sadness for the life we had left behind, and hope for the unknown future. I could feel my heart beating strong and fast under my right hand. I wondered if anyone else could hear the beating of my heart. It felt like the integrated pulse of many hearts beating steadily together in this room at that very moment.”
Sana Szewczyk, Under a Ginkgo Tree and Other Stories

“On the way out through the steel door, as I held Makenzie in my arms, I wondered if she could use her "Dorothy shoes" to take us safely home, if I just held on to her tightly. Then I asked myself: Where is home, really? I hoped that now I would know.”
Sana Szewczyk, Under a Ginkgo Tree and Other Stories

“A room without books is like a body without a soul.”
Marcus Tullius Cicero

“In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.”
Robert Frost

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.”
Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
