My dragon inspirations include Jabberwocky from Lewis Carroll, Smaug from The Hobbit, Balerion the Black Dread from Game of Thrones, and Saphira from Eragon. I also LOVE the movie Reign of Fire, which portrays dragons in a way that is chilling, fiercesome, and addictive. I also appreciate the focus on ash in that movie. With respect to other "lore," the magic system in The Wyrmhorne Series is quite scientific. There is an apex predator in the world of magical creatures, and an ecosystem. I like to conflate science fiction with fantasy in a way that almost feels real. Not sure what that would be called. "Realistic fantasy?" That's an oxymoron. But how do you make fantasy feel more real? Add science. For the house maid vibes, my inspirations include Cinderella, Downtown Abbey, and An Offer from A Gentleman. And Nugent? His inspiration is from the little monkey in Raiders of the Lost Ark. "Bad dates." Poor monkey!(less)
Thomasina Bloom I would travel to Narnia and have dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Beaver.

Updates from TB

Hello! Thanks for following me on Goodreads. I can't believe over 3,000 people have shelved my books. Thank you! I thought I'd hop on and give some updates.

Book 3 of Songbirds & Raptors is coming in June. It's called Fly the Broken Sky.

I am releasing a middle-grade children's book at the end of April-- think dark academia with demon-fighting vibes and heavy moral undertones. I wrote it before I s Read more of this blog post »

This book was such a good time! If you’re into epic fantasy that has both heart and humor, this is a perfect read. It was giving Terry Pratchett vibes, which is one of the highest compliments I can give a book.
