Amanda loved to tell stories from an early age. After telling a particularly riveting one about her mom getting hit by a bus, it was unanimously decided that young Amanda needed a more constructive outlet for her pathological lying. She started writing her stories down. This got her in a lot less trouble.

As she grew up, Amanda found Flint, Michigan's public schools to be a setting ripe for comedy. The crumbling walls, the out of date text books, the apathetic chain-smoking teachers, all taught her how to use humor to get through a tough situation. Her senior year, she wrote a parody to the musical Annie called "It's a Hard Knock School." The three students who hadn't skipped class that day gave it rave reviews.
