I read "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" thirty years ago and was annoyed by Kundera's sexism. I guess I missed this quote, which I now share with you.

"Humanity's true moral test, its fundamental test (which lies deeply buried from vies), consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals."
